So you have to go back 10 years to find a goalie who has comparable numbers? Is that sad or what?

Fact is, Cujo was a UFA and he ditched the Leafs after four years. He gave the Leafs some solid goaltending in his time but he came and went and didn't win anything. I'd much rather have a 24 year old, who put up better numbers, who has a long term future rather than the next UFA every four years.

- Unholy_Goalie

c'mon, you think Price would have the same numbers playing behind the leafs team?

And if you actually have to go back 10 or 20 years to find a good enough goalie to compete with that kind of talent or potential, that should say a lot about how horrid it's been in Toronto.
- Unholy_Goalie

That's not the point. But yes it's sad.

Price has played 22 more games in 5 years (VS Cujo's 4 years in TO). Price has 26 playoff games in 5 years to Cujo's 60 in 4 years.

All hail the savior.

They get a bye through the next round I think, so it could be a couple of weeks. I could be wrong though.

Who do you find if you go back 30 who is better than Price?

Nobody is the answer.

This is a case of people arguing with U_G just because. I am sorry, but he is right, Price is better than anything we have had in net except *maybe* Belfour, in the past 30 years.

They don't even know who they are playing next. The 1st round has to finish before they figure that out.

Did you seen the Habs play this year?

The Habs were the 3rd worst team in the NHL this year and Price still managed a .916%.

Felix Potvin finished the season, as a 21 year old, in 92/93, with the best GAA in the league, of 2.50 (second was Belfour at 2.59), and the second best sv%, of .910 (best was Cujo at .911, third was Belfour at .906).

Look, you can hate Habs until you're blue and white in the face, but to deny they have one of the best young goaltenders in the league is just ridiculous. In the past 20 years, the Leafs haven't had that kind of potential or seen a goalie put up those kind of numbers
- Unholy_Goalie

Well they did, but they traded him to Boston.

Cujo has put up more wins, but Price is only 24; Cujo was in his prime when he was with us and we had a better team in front of him: perhaps not defensively, but we had the horses to put up numbers and go fairly deep in the playoffs with regularity.

Price has had to carry the team on his back in his short playoff career; Cujo was also lights out for us, but again, late 90s, early 00s Leafs teams were better without question than MTL since Price took over full-time.

Yes, really.

If you had to pick, right now, between a 31 year old UFA who leaves in four years or a 24 year old franchise goalie that this team has never had, the choice is easy.

Plain and simple... The statement made, that someone would be a flat out moron to argue is true, is:

Yet better than any leaf goalie in the last 30 years not named Belfour, and Price is working on that, i get the Price hate, you should hate him, if you didnt he wouldnt be doing his job.

I believe that was the point. Not who has more potential or whatever. Who would you rather have at crunch time. CUJO has proven it.

You're in some serious denial aren't you? I can damn well guarantee that if you swap his jersey to a Leafs jersey, you, among many others, would be anointing him Jesus Price just like they have in Montreal.

You don't believe me? King James Bible Reimer played 37 good games down the stretch and he acquired seventeen different nicknames because of it.

There aren't too many goalies who can win 38 games at age 24 with a .923%. And if you watch him play, it's really easy to see he's a dominant goalie in the making.

3rd worst team in the NHL and he still had a .916%. When the Leafs were 29th, did their goalies have that kind of save percentage?

Not the point, not surprising.....

Joseph had more wins and comparable stats. Cujo did far more in the playoffs. The Point was about who has done more.

i'm not denying that Toronto would have better record with him, i'm saying his numbers would not be near the same if he was on the Leafs
