Well provided Grossmann will likely be back, coupled with a week off to heal some bumps and bruises I don't see why they can't do it. As Bill pointed out in his blog, the key to defeating the Rangers is playing with the lead. Once you get behind, it's hard to comeback against them.
- PLindbergh31

Patience is key against the Rangers. Flyers need to continue getting pucks deep because thats their strength. I'm not worried who they play because I think they can match up against anybody.

He is such a homer and whiner. Jonesy brings nothing. Clement is so much better.

keep Clement, and Bring in Gary thorn!

I'm all for Thorne and Clement. I know it will never happen, but it would be nice. Mr. Buzzcut I'm sure disagrees, I'm sure he enjoys Thorne on MASN calling 90 Orioles losses a year.
- PLindbergh31

Thorne and Palmer make it bearable ...

Unfortunately, they don't do every game.

Well the matchup with the Rangers concerns me a great deal. 8 straight regulation losses against them raises lots of red flags. They don't seem to have a clue how to beat them, and I think Lundqvist is in their heads. Defeating them in game 1 would be paramount imo.

Getting way ahead of myself anyway, we won't even know who the Round 2 opponent will be until Thursday evening.

Surprisingly the team I feel the most trepidation about playing is the Bruins. Their size scares me a bit more than other teams in the East.

I really feel that, all things being equal, we can beat the Rangers. Both teams will be on equal footing as far as scheduling goes, none of this getting a rested Rangers team on the 3rd game in 4 nights stuff.

Also, while the Rangers do boast a much better defensive team than the Penguins, I think the Flyers forwards can handle them physically if they play the way they did on the fore check against the Penguins. And offensively they are not the Penguins, who can score almost at will.

It by no means will be a walkover by either team, though talking to some Rangers fans they think it will be. In some ways it would be an "opposite game" against the Rangers, much harder to score, but a little easier to defend against.

I seriously don't care who they play. Any of the teams will be a challenge, but I don't "fear" any of the teams in the east.

Dont forget to mention that when we did playt he Rags this season, not only did e do it on a tough strech of games, but most of the time it was without key players like Briere, JVR, Jagr, a defenman or 2, and multiple forwards at the same time. The only time they saw a healthy line up was 1 period of the WC before Jagr got hurt... we dominated that period.

I think the last two periods of the final game is a better look at what the playoffs will look like. Bryz had to get used to that thing with his foot and the game seriously took a whole new meaning after that.

I said this before the playoffs started and I still believe it holds true, the regular season means absolutely nothing compared to the playoffs. Teams are completely different. If Ottawa can play with the Rangers I know the Flyers can. Do matchups matter? Of course but the Flyers are playing with a lot more confidence then ever. If they get back Grossmann and Mez it will only make this team better. The best part is were home resting while other teams are still playing and getting beat up.

They won't win many games with an OBP around .300.

Palmer's great because firing him for his honesty would be a PR disaster.

Ottawa by in large is being outplayed by the Rags, Anderson is performing at an elite level in the Senators wins. If I'm assured Bryzgalov will perform that way I would be super confident in the Flyers chances.

It seems a lot of people are letting the Pens series win trump the 8 regulation losses to the Rangers when it comes to the "bring on anyone" posts. I'm all for believing in my team against anyone but come on guys, common sense says every one of us should be rooting hard for the Sens right now. Be careful what you wish for my butt, 8 straight losses!

Boston is ripe for the picking IMO. Theyve played a lot of hockey over the last year. lFlyers know they can beat them and would be jacked for it. No Horton. They are coming off a draining caps series. They are primed for a second round exit

Yikes that is a miniscule OBP. If they continue to get quality starting pitching they will be competitive. They can't fire Palmer. He's Mr. Oriole. (Well him and Ripken).

If the Flyers get Ottawa, Washington, or the Panthers I would be willing to bet they will be putting up between 3-6 goals per game instead of the 0-4 Boston and Rangers have been doing.
- RooNosHockey

4 goals a game in the playoffs is a lot. I hope the Flyers don't have trouble scoring in the next round. But what happens if the PP inevitably has a cold streak. The Flyers went a considerable amount of time without scoring 5 on 5 against the Pens. Who weren't exactly a defensive stalwart of a team.

I would prefer playing Boston, as opposed to the Blueskirts.

U do realize their leading goal scorer for the playoffs is out with a concussion right?
