I doubt Wilson wants to trade Clowe, but he could be among the few quality players that might be of interest to rival clubs which he could move. One also has to wonder about Joe Pavelski, who lacks a trade clause, as there could be serious interest in him. The problem for Wilson is the players he might wish to move could prove untradeable because of their salaries and/or movement clauses, while those he’d prefer to retain (Pavelski, Couture) are those who would attract the most interest from other clubs.

They want to move Marleau and looks to be about it.

disarray has been the only constant other than ruff/regier....

i feel ya, but...dig...

instead of an orgainzation changing coaches/gm's every so often, the sabres ownership has changed during their tenure...again:

from knox to rigas to the nhl to golisano to pegula...

disarray's been the order of the day for the last 16 years

pavelski had no points in the playoffs this year, he would fit in well with the core

all jokes aside, clowe would look damn good in buffalo

yeah, my guess is many of them really did not want the current deal ratified a few years ago but signed off for it under pressure

i don't disagree with you concerning ruff...he seems to be on his last leg...darcy somehow may have saved his ass, for one more season...

this could be the last season of ruff/regier as a coach/gm tandem...

Molinari doesn’t believe the Penguins need an overhaul, but their recent playoffs failures suggest more than tweaks and fine-tuning are in order. GM Ray Shero might have to consider moving either Crosby, Malkin or Staal if he concludes he won’t have the cap space to re-sign all three in the near future. He believes Shero could seek a quality backup for Fleury this summer, and must consider revamping his defense.

SPECTOR’S NOTE: Cue the “trade Jordan Staal” rumors this summer, which always seem to pop up every year. If Shero were to consider that option, however, I believe he’ll wait until the new CBA is implemented and make his decisions based upon that. He’s in no hurry to trade Staal this summer. Some will advocate trading Crosby or Malkin, but that seems remote at best. Fleury may have struggled in post-season play of late, but he remains among the game’s better goalies, and perhaps with a more seasoned backup, could elevate his game again. Martin is probably untradeable, and if there’s an amnesty buyout period in the next CBA, he’ll become a prime candidate to be bought out by the Penguins. With over $59.5 million invested in 18 players for next season, Shero won’t have much wiggle room, even if the cap were to remain around $64 million for next season to fill out the remainder of his roster, let alone find the necessary upgrades, especially on defense.

Per Spector...........don't shoot the messenger

I had a discussion yesterday about pretty much this whole article with GunnerStaal and I think it could go both ways with the Penguins, they could decide to keep the entire core and try and make minor moves, but if they have another first round exit next year IMO they will make a big change, Thats why I think they wont resign Staal until his contract is up, I think it all depends on next year.

not sure where the problem lies...seems like a lot of players are making some pretty good money, the league is stabilized, tv revenue is growing and most teams are probably at least breaking even...

It should be there last chance, I just think the whole situation is screwy, in one breath you can blame Darcy, in another you can make the argument that Darcy has set this team up to win post lockout and Ruff and the players couldnt get it done, you could also argue the core players need a change of scenery, It is just frustrating that this front office (Lindy Included) is given another few years to make it work under Pegula. 5 years without a series win, IMO something major should have changed. Hell even if it was just shaking up the core it would be better than nothing.

The way I read it: no one wants Marleau and he may have no choice but to move Pavelski for some new talent.

Marleau only has two more years at 6.9M. He is still a 30 goal scorer, somebody would want him.

If i'm Staal, there is no way im signing a contract before next year is up, he could get injured tomorrow not play at all next season and still get 5-6 million. If he waits, and say Crosby gets hurt again, and Staal stays healthy and nets 35 goals 30 assists along with being a shutdown player, he's looking at a huge pay day, whether that is in Pitt or somewhere else. If he's smart, he waits IMO

None of the big 3 are going anywhere until 87 can play a full season without concussion issues.

Depends on what the contract is and what plans the team has for you. I don't think he is looking to leave Pittsburgh.
