"issues": kinda vague, don't you think?
Or is he saying that now to cover his ass? - Purple Eagle
Probably a little bit of both. From the sounds of it, people in his camp (particularly his father) loved to make noise. Hogdson was also a polarizing figure in Vancouver, and the people that loved him, are going to throw the blame for their early exit on Gillis for trading Hodsgon, so he had some face to save as well.

Nope... It was all Cody, his dad and the family dog or cat.

I assume it's coming out because of people (like Garth) who say the Canucks needed Cody in the playoffs and it was a bad trade. Gillis wants them to know he didn't make the trade on a whim and that there was a non-public issue that prompted the trade.
CoHo (or his parents and/or his agent) wanted him to be the man. Now he is. Sounds like the problem is mostly solved. Besides, as the kid gets older, I'm sure he'll tell his parents to (frank) off and let him run his own career.

I said it in Ian's blog. Clearly, either way, Hodgson has some growing up to do. If it was he himself who perpetrated the trade, he needs to get over himself. If it was his parents or whoever, he needs to be able to tell them to shut up and let him play. It's his career and not theirs. Now, perhaps this is a small (very, very, very small) blessing that Ruff and Regier are still here. They're pretty arrogant. They're the type of people to ultimately tell the likes of Hodgson's family they don't care what they think. Nobody tells them how to do their job (which is probably why they're so underachieving).

What? Pominville breaks sticks all the time. No big deal. - keptupl8
Funny thing is: he couldn't break that synthetic china-made piece of sh!t.
Yet they break all the time on the slap shot.
Betcha he put some dents in that water bottle though.
