Faksa is better. So is trading down and taking Gaunce. Forsberg is overrated.

All I know is I hope between all the experienced guys they're paying like Nonis, Dudley etc, etc, that some scouting brainwaves pay off and they get something very solid with this draft pick.

I've read various stories about how dysfunctional the Leafs as an organization were in previous years, where scouts were ignored or undermined, scouting wasn't funded and prioritized, and so on. Now supposedly that has changed, and this has always been one of the areas where supposedly the Leafs could use their financial clout outside of the cap. Well now they are doing that by paying what is it, five NHL GMs and way more scouts? Time for Dudley et al to step up to the plate and show they were working this year and score on a top five pick.

Actually, it's time for Dudley to just be the GM outright.

Hey, remember when the Leafs couldn't hire Dudley because there's no way he'd take the job because he would be too low on the front office depth chart?

I think they will, but at least if they do trade it, this time around they know the value of the pick because it's not a future. I know if they traded it the optics would upset a lot of people because of the Kessel deal. But really what hurt in that deal was where the unknown future picks, especially the lotto pick obviously, ended up being. There was a risky variable there. Here it's a known pick and the four or five players it could be are basically known. If they trade away the pick for a great player and the #5 pick from this draft ends up being a bust, I'm okay with that too!

From what I understand about him, he seems to have a rep for scouting, the whole Martin St. Louis thing and all...if that's true and he's got a few more of those in him, he can be a special advisor or whatever and I'm okay with that. Hell, if that's really his skill let him focus solely on that so he doesn't have to do all the other crap a Toronto GM has to do.

I'd be interested to know what influence he's had so far though, for sure. I wonder if he was a big Grabbo guy and influenced the resigning, what kind of input he had into Carter Ashton and so on...basically I'd like to be a fly on the wall in the TML inner sanctum lol

Do you remeber when he picked vancouver to win the cup 3 years ago because it was "luongos time'

Then they lost to chicago, and I called him out on it.

And he went all " ooohhh sorry for cheering for the Canadian team and being patriotic" blah blahblah

He says he never said that, but I know he did.

How he could go after people for being incorrect is astounding. When 95% of the time he has no idea what he is talking about... I will give him the other 5% is pure genius. But that is few and far far between.
