That only followed you stating that Ruff can't get his players to play to their potential and strenghts. man you just hate Ruff, so just say it and be done with it. You don't have to make stuff up to make your point... just say i don't like Ruff and calll it a day
- JoeSabre

I hate Ruff....happy? after 14 years and no cups... get a little old. For god sakes look at St. Louis? Any more proof that we could benefit from a coaching change?

Good points
But really, that's true with ANY team and just about any player
Of course you'll be successful when more talent is around you
Like I said, I think good points can be made in either direction

Let me ask this...
If the main problem with ruff is that his message has become "stale"
Is that really an issue if we were to trade Roy and possibly vanek or stafford
Because of we do that,
There actually won't be many players left that have been here all that long

Maybe it's not Ruff,
You could make a point that the "core" of this team is better at being secondary players than guys u NEED to count on...
And if that's the case,
It prob wouldn't matter who the coach is

- jdfitz77

I agree...this core is weak, Vanek, Roy, Miller, all havent been playing their best, but we proved we can win games with these guys, 2 years in a row we had amazing runs, but also had horrible stretches. IMO 1 of the 2 needs to happen, a complete core shakeup, or a coaching change and again IMO you dont give up on the players before you try a different voice behind the bench.

I'm not sure how I feel...
I don't think we have a team that tough enough to go deep in the playoffs
And I don't think we have anyone that we can count on to score a BIG goal late in games to tie it up or win it for us

Without those 2 things...
I just don't think it matters who the coach is

Keep lindy or fire him...
Whatever
Till we get a couple guys like Parise & Dustin Brown I don't see us winning the cup with ANY coach in the league

yeah, they could....

but the sabres could also benefit from having four cup-winners on the team...st. louis has langenbrunner, arnott, mcdonald, and huskins with langenbunner being a part of hitchock's stanley cup winning dallas team...

it also helps that they had a gm and scouting that put an emphasis on big centers (backes and berglund) and big wingers like crombeen while not being affraid to trade a "core" player (e. johnson) for a couple of young contriburtors (stewart and shattenkirk)...

don't get me wrong, ruff did not do himself a favor this season by micro-managing, but st. louis has been building this for years and it seems as their drafting and recent moves meshed well with a coach like hitch...

and...when hitch was on the market, didn't really here a lot of people saying he could be ruff's replacement

I have a feeling Ennis and Foligno will be those type of players. Same with Pommer he is clutch too. I would love a brown type player.

I think if we made playoffs this year, I dont think we are having this conversation. I think we are instead talking about how Lindy Ruff and the Sabres can comeback from anything. Thats how fine the line is.

I agree but Hitchcock has proven to be a perfect fit in St. Louis. he has been the coach of 4 teams with goalies who have led the league in shutouts, with guys named Mason, leclaire, Elliott, and Belfour being the only great one. Even he gets fired, a stanley cup winner, why is Ruff above that?
EDIT: Randy Carlslyle, Peter Laviolette, Tortorella, all guys that have won wherever they have gone get fired, it's the nature of the business. Either Darcy or Lindy should have been gone after the Bruins playoff series IMO

They has those cup winners on that roster when they started horribly this season. I agree they made a couple really good deals in the past few seasons but it has been Hitch's defensive system, their leading scorer had 53 points, to go along with 15 team shutouts this year.

Yup that was exactly what I said..... I love your Ruff defense.. Someone makes a valid point about players not being used properly .. and you berade them with nonsense about players who havent been here for 4 years. Keep riding The Drury/breire cotails, Lindy and Darcy sure are
- sbroads24

But your point was not valid and i proved that by giving you examples... you used Boyes as your example and what was Ruff to do play him on the first line, the man couldn't score, he is a permeter player and won't go where you can score goals, thus the reason the Blues got rid of him....duh

Your Breire/Drury argument is the one that is not valid. What are you not getting??? They havent played here in 4 years. Who cares if they had there best career years here? That somehow means Ruff shouldnt be questioned on how he utilizes his lineup.? If so, and that is your defense, than the players I mentioned serve the same argumental purpose, they had their worst career years and Leino and Boyes you could argue werent used properly
