You havent watched the Sabres then. He was our best player for about 40 games. He's just as good as Streit. Who makes the same amount of Money.

So he played well for 40 games & you want me to pat him on the back? If you are happy with 10 million for 40 great games... more power to ya.

I love APril here on hockeybuzz so much entertainment. I got a great lesson in yogurt, White Castle, How bad the Islanders, Liver and Onions and that guy Arthur Ashe. This is great chatter. I am excited to find out what the next topic will be. I am thinking Maury Povich and who is my baby's daddy

Yeah, but he's signed practically for life to bring the cap hit down there. Not really similar at all in deal structure, actual payouts, or length of commitment to Streit's deal.

No not cause of the good 40 games. He's not a rookie, he has had multiple good seasons before he came here, there is no question of his talent or work ethic, will be an assistant captain next year so yea im completely fine with the contract, so are most of us, the Leino deal on the other hand is retarded.

Go read my original question, I was asking an actual question because I notcied you guys are voicing a coaching change is needed, I myself want Lindy Ruff gone, I wanted to ask if your organization would let the same GM and coach stay for 15 years without being fired, hence the Question " how many times have you guys made the playoffs in the last 15 years." Like I said, sorry to disturb you guys
- sbroads24

thats why i didnt respond to your original question --- btw, even that "serious" question sounds pretty condescending considering no one here actually knows and the coach/gm situation isnt exactly ideal as of now.... once you went on your rant that the sabres were better losers than the islanders, thats when i came into play.

Love it how they are on the show like 20 times screaming and yelling that the guy is the father and when they find out he is not They go running and crying. It is the best.

Oh and by the way Leino sucks! Had to say it cause that Buffalo Sabre guy was waiting for someone to say it

I was not alive to experience the parades. Where do they hold them down Hempstead turnpike? Serious question I always imagine if they ever win one in my lifetime and still in Nassau where they would be held.

No your wrong, the cap hit is exactly the same as Streit's, actually 100k less, it's just the way Pegula wants to pay Ehrhoff, he wont have to pay him in 8 years when he is retired, it prevents having to buy his contract out. All it does is effect the Sabres salary cap, it allows us to sign more players now as opposed to in 8 years when Ehrhoff isnt around.

like I said, it's the cap hit that matters to the fans, 4 mil is fine with me and the rest of the fans, It's just the way he is being paid. In 8 years he will be getting paid nothing by the owner, it's a double edged sword, he couldve gotten more on the open market, probably 5 mil per year, if not more, we got him at a 4 million cap hit, not bad IMO

Pretty sure it's the way Ehrhoff wants to be paid. He wanted money up front and got it. Lots of it. $18m over two seasons. In order to make that payout palatable from a cap perspective, the contract had to go way out to 10 years to bring the average number down. There's no guarantee Ehrhoff retires in year 8 unless he wants to retire.

That's quite a different risk...in both actual dollars paid and length of commitment...than Streit signing a five-year deal with a flat payout. I understand the cap hits are the same. But the level of commitment from the organization, both in terms of real money paid to the player and for how long, is not comparable at all.

I'm not trashing the Ehrhoff deal, by the way. I wouldn't have done it, but that's based purely on the Isles' disasters with 10+ year contracts. But if it works out for the Sabres, great. My point is only that Streit's deal is not comparable in any way except the cap number for two seasons. If things went really bad on the Streit deal in year three or four, the organization would only have to ride it out for another year or two. If something goes bad with the Ehrhoff deal in year three or four, there are a lot of years to count down until the end.

Hopefully the team will still be at NVMC and they can have more parades down the pike. I dont recall the start to finish point.. my dad & i stood between the main gate to the Coli & exit ramp from the Wantagh.
