Agreed, White Castle deserves better than that comparison. DP would be like really cheap booze...all you end up with is an enormous headache for something that wasn't even a good idea to begin with.

Bettman said: "Barclays, I suppose, on some level, is an option. But I'm not sure how effective it can serve the fan base that principally is in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens.

Anyone else find it surprising that he mentioned Queens in that sentence? I find it a bit Odd... in a Tip your hand sort of way. I am guessing Wang and Betteman are working on Queens location and that is why he SPECIFICALLY mentioned Queens. .. can't see any other reason he mentioned it.

Arthur Ashe Stadium would be a great spot...they are looking for $300 million in improvements but need financing...that's where Wang comes in. Buys the stadium from them...puts on a retractable roof (can have outdoor games on a good night...I'm sure Bettman would love that), would need to move seats in lower bowl to fit the rink, add AC/heating for the stadium/rink. There are already 4 reastaurants and 90 luxury boxes in the stadium. Leases the stadium to USTA from mid August to mid September for the US Open. Could probably also put the Islanders training facility there too...sell naming rights to the stadium for $20 million per year...would get his money back in no time...everyone wins...the fans win because the Islanders stay in the NY area, with good mass transportation options, Wang wins because he'll start making money on the arena (probably could add concerts there too on open nights), the NHL wins because there is another team in the NYC area. Finally, when Willets Point red tape is gone, he can start his "Lighthouse Project"there...probably would make more money...

A.Ashe stadium isnt an option at all. 300million in renovations BEFORE the retractable roof you mention, before the heating & air, before the machines to make & maintain the ice...and before any alterations that an NHL team needs on a daily basis..... Plus im pretty sure as the structure now stands can not support a retractable roof.

THEN after all this work is done.. we are going to up and move to Willis Pointe??

One of those things i never acquired a taste for.. Chicken liver, beef liver.. liver in general.

I eat Calf's Live about once every 4 to 5 yrs. I dont know why. Just out of the blue I'll get a hankering for it. Then it will pass for another 1/4 decade.

Chicken liver and bacon is another story. Yumm!

But I can understand why most folks wont even touch the stuff.

I have been told Escargot is excellent. I wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole. I'm not eating anything that lives under a Rock. Unless that rock is submerged in Salt Water!

Oysters anyone?

White castle
- Cptmjl

Down here in South Carolina there are no White Castles.

But the have Crystals. A cheap, inferior, lack luster attempt at duplicating the White Castle. They look like a WT but the only other thing they have in common is the GAS!

Does anyone else remember when WT's were 5 cents?

to build his Lighthouse. he couldnt/wouldnt be around the other tennis courts (assuming that AA stadium COULD be converted for under a gazillion dollars) a new arena would have to be built on the Willis Point land.

One of the darkest days in Islander history is the day the WC on Hempstead turnpike burnt down. After a game or a concert.. I was either there, the diner, or Bagel boss in Hicksville... But 80% of the time it was WC... and what a cast of characters there were in that place.. from the bums in the back corner... to the freaks working the counter.... but the burgers.. those little squares of pleasure... you didnt care about any of the other stuff.

Memories!

I ended way to many nights back in the 70's sitting in that parking lot stuffing down those Belly Bombers with my buddies.

I was usually good for 15-20 but my friends would be choking down 40 -50 apiece. Along with the Fried Clams!

Amazing internal plumbing I guess.

its a large place, beautiful tennis arena.... the cost & gutting it would take to play hockey there would be ridiculous... this really is not an option.

Yes they were.

The one by the Sunrise Mall? The only WC I'm familiar with on 110 in farther up near Walt Witman. The way things have been changing on LI over my past few visits. There maybe some entertaining sights over there in Farmingdale by now.
