I kinda felt bad for his kid, who was wearing one of the powder blue WC jerseys. There were about 8 Flyers jerseys, so the kid had to feel a little heat

The playoff experience will make him a tougher kid.

won't that be sweet?

Caps failing today sucks, though ... they were beyond tentative in OT, and a B's win seem guaranteed.

- FlyerGuy

Caps had two brutal turnovers that led to goals and that's what buried them. The 3rd goal, Semin got his pocket picked as he was getting ready to shoot, and the OT turnover was as bad as they get.

I can see that ... probably because if he gets the puck he's definitely shooting.

- FlyerGuy

But will fail to elevate the puck over the glove (ala 2010 game 6 vs chx)

Jonesy is so much better on NHL live than he is with JJ and Coatsy.

I give him credit for repping his team. The party started at 2:30, so it was 4-1 when they showed up.

Couturier defending Malkin reminded me of Dave Poulin on Mario. Only difference was that Couturier wasn't able to put both arms around him and just bear hug him all over the ice. He was outstanding.

Neil leveled his check at the blueline. Totally clean hit. Boyle got knocked into next week. Of course that jagoff Tortorella was whining about the call after the game. He basically said Neil better get suspended. (frank) off Fonzie.

he also called him a repeat offender, which he isn't.

that would be awesome. and send Coatsy back to radio.

I know some people don't like Thorne, but to me his voice is like Sam Rosen's. It just oozes hockey.

The mono hurt, especially the timing. Had Couturier been stricken in January, he'd have gone top 3 or 4, if not first.

But coming into the season, he was the top dog, which meant every scout was watching for weaknesses. His "poor" skating got overblown, and his below par(for him) start compounded it, and he never got back into the good graces.

I remember watching the draft and discussing Hamilton, because most of us thought that there was no way team after team would pass up Couturier.

- Jsaquella

Yep. Exactly. The Devils fans I work with, are constantly female doging that Winnipeg really screwed up taking Scheifele. Obviously a lot can happen in their careers, but right now Couturier has a jump on basically everyone except RNH, and Landeskog. Both of those players may have a few years before they get their first taste of playoff hockey. Heck even the Devils are making Larsson a healthy scratch.

It sucks that the Flyers lost in the finals 2 years ago, but I'm not sure if Giroux is so good so early without the experience of that run. The Flyers are off to a good start for accelerating Couturier and Schenn's development. Gotta keep things rolling now. East could be wide open in a couple of days

Good point.

He could also be doing things that "others" weren't at the time.

I saw that, he said " research isn't necessary". Right on Fonz, Shanahan didn't even look at it.

You know what's funny?

Once Christmas roles around I like to check out the stats in all Junior leagues. Just for the hell of it. I saw that this Couturier kid with like 60 points in 40 games or something, and looked at his past years' stats and saw totals in the hundreds. And he was 18 at the time.

I was with my buddy at the time, and we were salivating. Just pipe dreaming...."DUUUUUUUUDE wouldn't it be (frank)ing amazing if we somehow got this kid? Just imagine that...goddAYmn...."

Fast forward to the draft....

I'm sitting with my friend in my basement watching the draft....pick 1 passes...pick 2....3....6....I was like "Matty...this kid's still on the board...this could (frank)in happen..." Then the Broons were on the clock at 7 I believe, and he turned to me and said "Watch the Bs take him. God I hate them...."

Then they took Dougie Hamilton....

Me and my friend were yelling so loud at Homer through the TV.... "(frank) THE D THIS KID IS GONNA BE AMAZING DON'T BE STUPID!! PLEASE!!!"

I felt like Cooter's mom....I was so nervous when Homer got up to that podium...

And here we are watching #14 drink Malkin's milkshake.

Talbot and Jagr were both terrific in the series. Talbot is underpaid based on his level of play this year. Great signing by Holmgren.
- PLindbergh31

overall, he's been nothing short of awesome for the flyers this season. regular season career goal high, plus he had a nice little pile o' points in this series. he had the same # of goals as crosby.

i remember reading all these pens fans saying good riddance to max. i'm sure they're singing a different tune now. what really sucks is that if was on the flyers in 09 they probably win that series and prevent the pens from winning the cup.

Van/LA starting OT ... I think it's a pretty safe bet that someone named Sedin, Carter or Brown gets the winner.

Pens fans saying good riddance to a guy that scored a gwg that won them a cup. The same Penguins fans who hate Jagr. The early 20's group who never even seen Jagr play as a Penguin.
