A playoff series against a team like Pittsburgh, and to win it, really accelerates the growth of the kids.

It's the mental part that I love the most. To get over on this team, with all their key guys in the lineup, is huge.

Looks like no Brian Boyle for the Rangers tomorrow.

That's it... Rangers get shutout

A lot of people seem to forget the put up triple digit (yes....TRIPLE) point totals Juniors....I believe the Q.

The kid, at 19 years old, is ALREADY one of the top 10 shut down forwards in the league. And with the offensive potential just waiting to be tapped....

Homer....you robbed the NHL

I guess the mono issue is why Couturier's stock dipped slightly, I saw mock drafts a few months before the draft and some had Couturier going # 1, as much as I would like to credit Holmgren, he really had no clue Couturier would fall to him at # 8, that being said he could have taken D. Hamilton, or D. Siemens with the pick, thank god he didn't.

I know Quick is very good, but there are too many Canucks awol on offense right now.

That play may have been bigger than any save Bryzgalov made today.

Out of respect to a decent Pens fan, or the fact that you don't know any of the local cops anymore?

Out of respect to the Pens fan. He was a good guy. Even managed to joke a bit with us. At one point, during the post mortem, he said, "Hey guys, the knife's still buried in my chest, do ya mind?"

Yep. And shutting them down in this game with our own depleted D. Talk about a growth spurt.

What was the consensus around here on the Torres suspension?

It sucks that the Flyers lost in the finals 2 years ago, but I'm not sure if Giroux is so good so early without the experience of that run. The Flyers are off to a good start for accelerating Couturier and Schenn's development. Gotta keep things rolling now. East could be wide open in a couple of days

I can see that ... probably because if he gets the puck he's definitely shooting.

Neil leveled his check at the blueline. Totally clean hit. Boyle got knocked into next week. Of course that jagoff Tortorella was whining about the call after the game. He basically said Neil better get suspended. (frank) off Fonzie.

I read that. Good article by Burnside. Neal played well at times in the series, but his display at the end of game 3 was a disgrace.
- PLindbergh31

surprised he didn't mention talbot or jagr, who both played well and had key contributions, especially jagr who potted the winner in game 3.

The mono hurt, especially the timing. Had Couturier been stricken in January, he'd have gone top 3 or 4, if not first.

But coming into the season, he was the top dog, which meant every scout was watching for weaknesses. His "poor" skating got overblown, and his below par(for him) start compounded it, and he never got back into the good graces.

I remember watching the draft and discussing Hamilton, because most of us thought that there was no way team after team would pass up Couturier.

won't that be sweet?

Caps failing today sucks, though ... they were beyond tentative in OT, and a B's win seem guaranteed.

You're right you don't know if someone will end up being a bust or dropping to your lap....but hey- That trade still ended up being Frick for Cooter and Voracek.

That's highway robbery.... any way you look at it

I kinda felt bad for his kid, who was wearing one of the powder blue WC jerseys. There were about 8 Flyers jerseys, so the kid had to feel a little heat

Talbot and Jagr were both terrific in the series. Talbot is underpaid based on his level of play this year. Great signing by Holmgren.

The vision to get into position to intercept that Malkin pass to Kunitz was incredible. Kid's got smarts.
- tangent_man

Couturier defending Malkin reminded me of Dave Poulin on Mario. Only difference was that Couturier wasn't able to put both arms around him and just bear hug him all over the ice. He was outstanding.

Jonesy is so much better on NHL live than he is with JJ and Coatsy.
