Bryz's play was up and down, but he was a hug factor in winning the first two games and was very solid in each of the last two-or at least didn't give up weak goals that needed to be stopped.

Now he gets a chance to heal up.

- Jsaquella

Yea, I don't think he got enough credit for his role in the first 2 games. They don't win either without him-- he kept the game close in Game 1 and made several key stops, and without his masterful glove-hand save on Letang Game 2 would've been 3-0 and who knows what would've happened thereafter.

I stopped giving a rat's ass what their coach had to say as soon as I saw Lilja and Bryz hugging in the crease as the horn sounded. Rearview mirror.

Good point.

I found it humorous. Gamesmanship after-the-fact, maybe.

Now, if he went on to resort to name calling and complaining, that'd be a different story.

- tangent_man

Exactly. Bylsma didn't whine at all after the game. He gave credit where it was due.

The only players that didn't play with a code of honor in the series imo, were Malkin and Neal. The constant head hunting was total BS.
- PLindbergh31

yup, neal got this from Scott Burnside.

"James Neal seemed more intent on trying to run people in this series and was not a factor in Game 6."

Malkin is a phenomenal player though too.

I read that. Good article by Burnside. Neal played well at times in the series, but his display at the end of game 3 was a disgrace.

Fun fact: Danny B set a franchise record 30 points in the playoffs during our run in 2010. Giroux practically has half that total after just ONE playoff series.

Pretty incredible stuff.

Well he succeeded in knocking Grossmann out of the series, and who knows how much longer than that.

That really is an incredible stat. 40 blocks for the Flyers to the Pens 14. Says it all.

Great win today. Just what we needed. A real win without the garbage. Superior defense and great heart, can't wait until the next round! Go Flyers!

A little reminiscing before we move on because it's just funny:

"Punch him in the face as hard as you can. You drop a bomb right in his beak and you let him know, "I don't care about your head kid, if you're gonna pull this stuff in our house." -Chris Therien on Sidney Crosby. Best rant ever.

They said G's 14 points were a team playoff series record, beating Briere's 12 (I forget what season)

He was brilliant in the final 43 minutes of game 1, and very good in the final 40 minutes of game two. He had a few bad ones in games 3 & 4, but he wasn't horrible. Game 5, he got caught guessing wrong, and had two others that were not gimmes. Today, he was solid when tested and his defense played great.

He should be healthy, or at least close to it, for round two.

Briere had 12 in the finals, so it must've been 2010. Only Gretzky has ever had more in the Finals series.

Yea, that's the key. Hopefully both he is fully healthy for next week and our D continues to tighten it up and block shots.

He was strong today, and if he's strong, they're in good shape.

FWIW, this summer is going to be batpoop insane in terms of goalies.
