I'd personally give the C to Talbot, not Giroux.
- MJL

I'd also consider Timonen and Simmonds as well. It might be too late for Timonen and too early for Simmonds though.

Why the big surprise they beat them all season long. This what I don't get why all the surprise. This is one tough team.
- LJF

Me Personally I'm not that surprised. I predicted a matchup between these two teams but in the ECF's before the series started and said the Flyers would win. However at that time, I didn't think we'd be missing Pronger and have two other defensemen out. That is huge adversity that any team could have used as an excuse to roll over and die with.

I hear you, but personally, I fear every team.
- MJL

I don't fear them, I respect them. The Flyers have some time to rest up before the next round which should do them some good. Any word on when the next game will be?

Totally agree, but I have grasped it.. HUGE series win. NOONE gave this team even a fighting chance to win. Win it in 6. Big statement and this team really has a great future.
- Hextall271

Like I said, the fanbase hasn't grasped it as a whole. I mean it wasn't until game 3 that I had some people telling me they believed the Flyers could do it. I had to put one relative on phone ignore and we grew up playing street hockey imitating Gene heart lines on every play. Into the breadbasket, score etc. Yet he didn't buy this team until after game 3. Oh yea and all season I had to hear how the Flyers couldn't beat the pens in the playoffs, from him and others. I guess they listened to Vegas I don't know

But yea the Flyers just beat a team with probably 4 of the best Players in the world. I think now some of the Flyers have to be moved into that category.

They definitely benefitted from some matchups but there was matchups the Pens had in their favor too. Also going into this series even I didn't think Couturier would hold down the fort against Malkin like he did. OMG that was an amazing performance! and Finally, Yes Our goalie was a big factor in a big series! Say what you want but if Bryz doesn't make the save on Letang in game one this is still a series. That save probably saved the series.

The list of great things is really long and my fingers are tired.

If I told people at the beginning of this season the Flyers would beat the Penguins, without Pronger and two other of their top six defensemen, people would have called me an idiot. Well they do that anyway, but you get my point.

For this team to do what they did in this series is big and I don't think the fanbase as a whole has grasped the total accomplishment yet.

- JoeRussomanno

I agree. Were watching the young kids grow up right in front of us. This is a bit different of a Pens team that Tampa beat last year.

blocked shots was what this game was all about. This team has that "it" factor.

I feel bad for their fans in a way. They won a cup a fews year back so I'm not crying a river for them either. However I think pens fans in general are good people. I've only had a beef with like one of them ever that i can think of.

That team acted like a bunch of punks in this series and their coach saying what he said was childish. I hate that team but have respect for their fans.

I agree with this ... I had good conversations with most of their guys on the Pens board. A couple were idiots, but we certainly have more than our share over here.

according to the stats read during the postgame, the flyers had 40 blocked shots. i don't know if that's accurate, and if it is, that is .

Giroux is insane!

How cool would a Kings/Flyers final be?

i don't feel bad for them. i've enjoyed the exchanges with the regulars who visited with us during the series though. good hockey fans.

the team, as you said, were pure punk for the whole series, even in game 5 which was one of the few that felt like a normal playoff game. today, niskanen gives the behind the knee chop to giroux...it went on the whole series. i hate those guys, and i'm so thrilled the flyers beat them on home ice in front of a sea of orange.

Talbot would be a fantastic choice as MJL suggested. It would allow G to focus on being the best player while letting a true heart and soul guy be the official leader.

Giroux will inevitably be the captain of this club. I don't think there's any debate there.

Sometimes I don't know what's better, eliminating a team on the road or at home. I really love it sometimes when our fans give it to some of the more ignorant teams like this one. The Na na na chant and Crosby sucks for once finally had me on board. Yes he's a world class player but he was a big time punk in this series and for that yes he sucks.

agreed. it would be amazing if pronger could come back, and even if he does, giroux will be here after he's gone.
