That's what im saying though. Outside of guys like Kovalchuk, I don't know of to many pure snipers in today's NHL anymore.
Kessel and Lupul just have so much offensive creativity that it works. They both are very under-rated passers.
People forget that some players are equally as bad at distributing the puck as they are at putting it in the back of the net. It's such an insane concept now-days for some reason. - mochoson

ah yes, i could see that making more sense. not sure how the rags could possible afford nash though. columbus wont' take gaborik, and won't touch richard's contract at all.
Honestly, something tells me that nash is going to vancouver in exchange for luongo + - sensarmy_11
That makes zero sense. |

Think he will learn his lesson?
http://www.tsn.ca/
The axe has fallen on Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres. Torres was suspended 25 games for launching himself to deliver a late hit to the head that sent Chicago's Marian Hossa during Game 3 of the Coyotes-Blackhawks series on Tuesday night. |

Doubt it.... and what the point if they do, no chance of him going there. - burn
really, no chance he wants to go to one of the better young teams in the leauge, one who can actually afford to pay him what he deserves, where he'll be playing with one of the best centers in the leauge, and where (with his addition) the team could go from fringe playoff team to likely contender.
enlighten me, where will he go (and please dont' include teams that can't afford him) |

You need to be told why a rebuilding team doesn't want to trade for a 33 year old goalie signed for 100 yrs?? Really? |

Because everyone and their dog has a raging boner for Nash and everyone and their dog wants to burn Luongo on a cross. |

they aren't only going to get luongo, that's why i said +. luongo, plus picks, prospects, etc. it gives them a legit #1 goalie for the next few years, plus some building blocks, plus saves them some money. it's obvisouly not an ideal trade, but i don't think too many people want to take on nash's salary with out sending salary back. so really, what are the other options. |

No doubt Eks has heard what he has heard, but Nash in TO makes almost no sense to me. I could see Burkie doing it but I think it would be a mistake. Too much salary commitment for what he does for the Leafs, too high of an asking price for a non-Cup winning gamebreaker, even in his prime.
Also, IMO Nash is tired of being considered "the best player to never have a chance to win anything" and thus irrelevant. Nash wants to play games that matter. Think about the Leafs roster after you give up the kind of talent Columbus will want for Nash. Do you really think you'll have the team depth to be playing in April, let alone June?
A couple seasons of staying the course should see your team improve - you have lots of defensive prospects whose value should only improve provided you develop them competently. Dealing, say, Franson now would very likely net less return than dealing Franson next year. Why not wait to pull the trigger until it will make a decisive difference?
With or without Nash, TO's living on a prayer. At least right now, all their eggs aren't in one basket. - thefullnelson
In Nashs 9 year career he has played with nobodys. His second best player when he won the Rocket was Vborny (sp?) everyone brings up his average numbers without bringing up the fact he has played with no one. What do you expect the guy to do? put him with real players and he will be a beast... There is no way around that.. Sure his cap hit is high, But we woul be bringing in a much needed power forward and a guy who can snipe 40 goals.. Why is this even in debate?

There you go...... CLB is looking to hit a homerun, why would they settle for "not ideal" when even without hitting a homerun they could still do better. |

an islander fan trashing the leafs and a flyer fan ripping the leafs goaltending issue
I picked a bad year to quit pot and cut down on morning cocktails - homiedclown
Ha ha ha....A buffalo fan, whose city hasn't won anything in forever coming to the defense of the leafs....you should go back to the pot/booze...ur gonna need it the rest of your life.
The Leafs always claim they're IN on every FA out there or that they can trade for anyone. And they're not shy about making public proclamations as such. Their fans believe Burke can somehow magically trade a box of donuts for ANY player in the league and that every player WANTS to play for that franchise. It's arrogant and that's what I was making fun of. (STILL waiting for Burke to trade for Tavares, as leaf fans so confidently predicted- like it was a law of physics)
The Islanders may be a lot of things but they/we are not arrogant in any way comparable to the Leafs. (who haven't won anything in almost 50 years????) We've sucked for a while and don't act so surprised when we're picking TOP 5 again. I believe the word here is humility, a word that does not exist in the Leafs' vocabulary.
