i hope the leafs do that!
then they will be screwed for even longer! burke needs to admit that they need to sell and start over from scratch aka goalie to defense to forward.
but hey if they want to overpay for two players, im all for it!!!!! - xfm_1011
Isn't Ottawa the team that is always on the verge of going bankrupt?
I'd worry about your own teams financial issues bucko. |

Why does it have to be this years 1st round pick?
The Columbus organization is a joke. We will fleece them. |

no way the Leafs should give up a ton for Nash. He is a 60 point player with a 7.8M cap hit. They should not include a top 5 pick for him. And how in the world is Toronto going to afford that 7.8 and around 6+ for a guy like Parise? How are you going to cut almost 14M off? |

Cap space isn't the reason this isn't going to happen. They have plenty.... and can easily make room. |

Finger, Crabb, and a 5th seems more realistic for as stupid as Howson is.
He isn't a Sutter, so he will be easier to fool. |

Nash wont be in TO....Once the Sens finish off the Rangers they will make changes this summer and will overpay for Nash.. |

Let's shoot for he is overpaid?
Or a winger is the least of our worries?
Or because we are already getting louongo and parise, that Nash is just too much for us right now.
Let's not forget, we need to resign Joey (frank)ing Crabb! |

No doubt Eks has heard what he has heard, but Nash in TO makes almost no sense to me. I could see Burkie doing it but I think it would be a mistake. Too much salary commitment for what he does for the Leafs, too high of an asking price for a non-Cup winning gamebreaker, even in his prime.
Also, IMO Nash is tired of being considered "the best player to never have a chance to win anything" and thus irrelevant. Nash wants to play games that matter. Think about the Leafs roster after you give up the kind of talent Columbus will want for Nash. Do you really think you'll have the team depth to be playing in April, let alone June?
A couple seasons of staying the course should see your team improve - you have lots of defensive prospects whose value should only improve provided you develop them competently. Dealing, say, Franson now would very likely net less return than dealing Franson next year. Why not wait to pull the trigger until it will make a decisive difference?
With or without Nash, TO's living on a prayer. At least right now, all their eggs aren't in one basket. |

Go ahead and fire me..And then sit back and enjoy another 50 years without the CUP. In the new NHL, there is competitive balance..You can't just buy a team every year. Leafs fans have to remember that there are more then 6 teams in the league. YOu have to build from within. And sometimes, that means, you have to sell out and start from scratch. I would even go as far as saying that if you don't have at least 14 guys on your team that you drafted, you are doomed to fail in the long run. - dgutzman
Don't get me wrong I think they should build properly. However this fan base at this moment will not stand for it. If Burke wants a job here he needs to be in the playoffs this year. |

I couldn't help but notice that the Red Wings got knocked out of the first round last night. Do you think this sits well with them? Plus they have a lot of money to spend this summer, maybe even more if you know who retires. Do you really think any significant UFA will pick Toronto over Detroit? Didn't think so. - haroldsneps
I couldn't help but notice your location.
Did you know your entire team is coming to Toronto this summer? |
