If the Leafs miss out on the playoffs again next season, does Burke get fired? |

I don't know about you but i specifically remember hordes of bloggers positing that the leafs would land between 7th - 11th. Just before their eventual collapse they were sitting 5th closing on philly or pitts. We know what came next. So yes, I think those changed our expectations pretty dramatically - from potentially making the playoffs to "a contender". Don't fool yourself, everyone was jumping the bandwagon save for the usual fatalists. - A_Tree
i don't remember what the bloggers posted (as if most bloggers have any relevant credibility anyhow), and nor do I care. We were not going into this season expecting a playoff miss. We started strong, we played a good this year - until the Leafs stopped playing. The leafs didn't sink back into where they were supposed to be - they fell into one of the most dramatic slides in Leafs history.
It is a testament to the potential, character, potential and skill of this team. This team would suffer in the playoffs. |

Yes... because the Leafs going all in is what is best for the team and their building future and not at all for the benefit of the GM, his ego, his legaccy, his ability to tie a necktie.
(Have we learned nothing from Paying the Mortgage to get Kessel and then have no food in the house for 4 years!) |

Are you bi-polar?
The season was not that spectacular, it was a spectacular disappointment. There is not enough raw talent in this team for them to be competitive in a playoff setting. - Nastradamus
After I said:
Morons. Too many people are squawking about the leafs having a terrible season. That could't be more wrong. The leafs had a terrible collapse - that's certain. However, they showed some moments of true brilliance - and then faltered soon to implode completely. It was curious considering the tear they were on. Anyhow, the leafs have something in quite a few of our current players, and then some competing for the Calder Cup this year.
You proved my point, why are you arguing with me? |

I personally just dont want this to be "The Summer of Rick Nash".
Rick Nash, to me anyway, is one of the most over-rated professional athletes alive. - mochoson
I love Nash and would like to see him in an environment that better enhances his ability.
But it's going to be a long summer with Nash going everywhere and Toronto bringing in everyone.

No, Leafs fans haven't learned the lesson yet..But when Dougie Hamilton makes his way to the NHL, it will settle in.

When will people learn it takes a combination of good trades, good drafting, and good signings in order for a team to win a cup. Other then the kessel deal which hasn't turned out so bad, burke has done a good job. He just needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. The fact burke isn't willing to take those kinda risks anymore is the only reason why this team will take longer to shape. |

If they're trying to sell a UFA on signing in Toronto, by saying they're going hard after Nash, than it must be someone in Nashville. Considering they had to be sold to stay in Nashville,Preds bringing in guys like Gaustad and Gill |

Weber and Suter are staying in Nashville IMO, Preds will finally spend to the cap, they are an up coming team with great G and D, they just need a bit more offense. With Radulov coming back and if they add someone like maybe Parise if he doesn't resign with NJ, they would be very dangerous. |

To even mention interest in a player in the playoffs is too close to tampering that this rumor is complete bullpoop.....the Leafs will try hard to sign some FA's, but to tell a player that they intend to bring a specific player still in the playoffs is tampering....case closed..... |

Plus, there's still a couple months away from the draft and free agency, things will changed.
If you said this close to the draft, then I might of believed it. |
