Thats good news of course, but that does not mean he will play. It means that he is upto experimenting. Alfredson even skated in the pregame warmups for game 3 and did not play in that game or the next one.
Lavy rolled the die with his big 3 last night and the next game is within 36 odd hours of the previous one. If they get to game 7, they will be toast mentally and physically. This is an elimination game for the Flyers. - PT21
I pray thou's lack of faith is not perceived blasphemous now and in turn angers the hockey gods
Compare the way Fleury played that 3rd period save on Voracek on the Flyers' PP with 7 shots to the way Bryzgalov played the first Penguins goal. Fleury knew right away what was up, and got over to turn a near impossible save into a routine one while Bryz went down to the ice way early and had no chance at a recovery when Letang made the pass (as Clement put it, Bryz guessed and guessed wrong). - bmeltzer
No Bill.
You compare 2 completely different situations.
Bryz faced Crosby, in the shooting position with screening Penguin in front of him. And the pass was virtual snap shot with almost twice a speed as the backhend pass from covered player having his back facing the net.
Not to mention, that Letang's shot was perfect corner. On the other hand , Voracek hits Fleury in his logo.
Sorry, but Malkin's hit yesterday was square on the shoulder.
Credit Coots for acting like he got hit by an asteroid though. - nhindian
They played the shot repeatedly here in Philly, and I taped it and watched it in slow-mo. Shoulder and side of helmet make contact simultaneously with Malkin's shoulder. This happens because Couturier is sort of hunched over and helmet and shoulder are in the same plane. There is appreciable contact with head though perhaps the shoulder got the brunt of the impact.

I think you are nitpicking a bit. There is some contact, but it isn't the PRINCIPAL point of contact. He's not leading with his elbow, he hit him with his shoulder *mostly* on Coot's shoulder. Considering how much lower Coots was, there's going to be some head contact there. Malkin got a 2 minute penalty for interference, which is the correct call. I'm not sure what the issue is here.

yeah it was interference and the contact to the head came after contact with the shoulder. the refs got the call right. however malkin has targeted the head a few times this series so that is probably why everyone is up in arms
Just seen Tories got 25 games. Too many in my opinion. Maybe this will get Malkin a review and possibly a game. He better at least get a fine. NHL is a joke right now.
As far as the series goes bryzgalov owes us one. He either steals one or we are in trouble.

And there's no doubt about the nit-picking, but it's kinda justified with all the damage the Flyers have been taking from the Pens on questionable and/or outright illegal hits.
I guess the point is, Couturier is once again targeted, hit unaware when he doesn't have the puck, and up high. Add that to Neals' hit, which wasn't punished or even penalized, in addition to Malkin's hit on Grossmann, and a pattern is developing.
Actually there were plenty of Pens fans here when it was 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 3-1, and now 3-2. - nhindian
Like i said before, that is because your thread has about three posts. So you feel compelled to come here and post idiotic apologetic posts on malkin and attacks on Couturier.

I'll be the last to defend Malkin when it comes to perceived cheap shots. However on this one, Coots reaches for the puck right before contact and lowers his head level even more than it already was. We went through this exact hit on the receiving end with Letang earlier, except he wasn't OK after. I don't think this was one of the intentional cheap hits, like I thought the one on Grossman was.
