Call me a homer but I'm pretty confident that RNH is clearly the best talent of this rookie class, but I have a feeling he wont get the nod... which doesnt really matter in the end. - robin_steele264
Alas even Raycroft won the Calder. Doesn't matter who gets it, just what they do in the next 20 years of their career |

How hilarious is it that the mighty Detroit is the first team eliminated from the playoffs this year?

Landeskog had a better season and that's all the Calder is about, But Crosby didn't win either so who cares. As for best in class we'll see in 10 years Larsson, Huberdeau and the aft fore mentioned Landeskog all look to be pretty big locks to be very good for very long. Strange how people called this draft class weak! |

I think that the core of the team has been there so many times, that they have lost the necessary hunger to win.
They are still a very talented team, but I don't think this core wins another championship. Over the next few years, the best that they can hope for is to stay competitive every year. |

So we come back down two games in a row and score 8 goals x2 and go up 3-0, and the Pens have a blow-out game and a 1 goal win where Fleury stand son his head and all of a sudden WERE (frank)ed?
Pen's scored 7 meaningless goals in game 4. Hooray. Blow-out games happen.
Fleury looked like an AHL goalie the first 3 games. He's a good enough goalie to steal his team at least one game. He gets paid to do what he did last night.
This seies is far from over, that's why they play 7 games. |

Mileage. Simply put Detroit is getting old. Its key players have played a lot of hockey and the supporting cast is simply not as good as it used to be. The go to guys can't bring it like they used to. |

This statement is incorrect, The Bluejackets were the first team elminated from the playoffs. Detroit is the 14th team eliminated from the playoffs. |

Great work by Ben Scrivens this year earning the AHL's Holmes Memorial Award as best goalie in the NHL.
Also have to agree with this blog as D'Amigo has been doing well despite people thinking he'd be just a 3rd liner this year. |

Detroit hasn't lost the hunger to win. They've lost their legs and the Predators were simply just too defensively strong to break down.
Over the years, the Red Wings have dissected teams by playing a distinct brand of hockey but now, it's getting harder for them to play their style as defensive hockey is creeping back into the fold. It's no surprise that Phoenix, Nashville and St. Louis are all beating their opponents using the same method of defensive hockey. |

Thanks for bringing up Los Angeles too. I picked them to upset the Canucks and the simple reason is because they play like Boston does. Amazing goaltending, defensive, hard hitting and clutch players like Brown and Richards who play amazing two-way hockey.
Boring? Certainly. Effective? Definitely. |

Im cheering for LA his year. Mostly because I hate Philly, and it would be awesome to see Richards/Carter hoist the cup.
On an unrelated note: Does anyone know if McKegg will be with the Marlies for the playoff run? |

I don't care who wins as long as everybody keeps beating the piss out of each other.
For McKegg to join the Marlies, the Knights would have to be eliminated from the OHL playoffs. But even if he was eligible, I'd say it's unlikely. The Marlies have a lot of players who are already sitting. |
