Couturier, as a guest of Comcast SportsNet's "Daily News Live" on Wednesday evening, said he was "knocked out" and "unconscious" after Neal's suspension-worthy hit late in the third period.

When asked for a clarification by the Daily News, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said it was the first he was hearing of Couturier possibly losing consciousness.

Couturier said he received a baseline concussion test after the game. When asked to further clarify his comments, Couturier admitted that he did say he lost consciousness on "Daily News Live'' but that he misspoke. Couturier said the correct phrase would be that he was "seeing stars.''

Yeah, nice try

Hopefully he's feeling ok. Need to get out of this series tonight, before we lose it or more players...

Penguins had something to prove after going down 3-0
It seemed the Flyers put in as much effort in game 4 as they did in the last regulaar season game. Tonight will be different as Flyers will have something to prove. I think putting Gusty w Carle hopfully we see Lilja for maybe 10mins, along with Kubina him trying to help Bryz on the Staal empty net goal was the back breaker

scary

That's what actually did happen to Mikael Renberg in 1997. Got sliced upward from his chin to near his nose by Randy Cunneyworth's skate. (To add insult to injury, Paul Stewart called Renberg for holding because he grabbed onto Cunneyworth as he fell to the ice).

Rennie took over 200 micro-sized stitches in the hospital and was released the next morning. Less than 24 hours later, he showed up for practice and had to be told by Terry Murray there was no way in hell he was practicing like that. The day after that, he did practice.

I also seem to remember Renberg getting 20+ stiches in a game, and coming back to play. It might have been a playoff game, I cant remember... Fuzzy memory. But the dude was tough.

Per NHL.com's Dan Rosen: "Bylsma says if Grossmann can't play, he will try to take advantage w/ last change. That's obvious, of course, but a key factor nonetheless."

Speaks to how much Grossmann's presence has come to mean to Flyers and his impact (after 1st pd of Game 1) on this series.

No JVR in morning skate (not a huge surprise) and no Briere. At least not yet.

Getting concerned about Danny. He took treatment for a long time after end of Game 4. Have to wonder if his back acted up again.

Every year the Flyers team is devastated by injuries.

Concussions this year:

Pronger
Read
Giroux
JVR
Briere
Schenn
Couturier (?)
MAB (2)
Voracek (?)
Grossmann

Not sure if Couturier, and Voracek were officially listed as concussions, but they missed games due to head injuries. Unless I'm missing something that's 11 concussions in one season. Just absolutely insane.

You would think he would use his last change to get Malkin away from Grossmann when he was playing too... But I guess he only uses he last change to put goons out against a scoring line with about a minute left in a game you trail by 3....

If Malkin is getting owned by the other teams defender, just send Malkin out there to elbow him in the face.
