So is it confirmed that Grossmann is out for tonight?
- Hextall271

Not confirmed, but most likely. He didn't practice yesterday. I did not see any information if he traveled to Pittsburgh with the team. If he is in fact concussed, he would probably wouldn't fly.

Thanks. Big loss on d .. Its going to be hard to control the Pens forwards.. We need Bryz to play a solid game. This team has always pleasantly surprized me so I expect them to play solid tonight. Pressure is still on the Pens and I have every faith that they can continue to light up fleury.

The defense is in absolute tatters. Going to have to probably score at least 4 goals to win, and maybe more.

Going by all reports that I have seen plus Bill himself I would say that Grossmann is not going to play tonight.

Flyers still have plenty of talent to get the job done tonight. The Pens will be coming hard early in the game just have to hold on tight. Hopefully Bryz can step up and be a huge factor in tonights game. The team needs to be better defensively as well.

Some sad but truisms there Bill

What is the likelyhood of the Flyers not dressing either Lilja or Kubina and going with Manning? That pairing is just scary at times ....

Getting JvR back COULD be a big boost. He can be a game changer with his combination of size and speed.

I really hope the Flyers return to the first three game format of counter punching and not responding. Buckling down tighter and tighter and letting the Penguins get frustrated...which happens to the best of us...and then exploiting the reaction/over reaction.

The refs will be calling it close. We saw that in the last game and you can see it in the other series as well.

Most likely. The team that outworks the other will receive those PP's.

2 hours into the workday and I am nervous for this game. I can see this game getting out of hand for the flyers.
Guys like Jagr and Briere really need to play both ends of the ice. We also need a flyer or flyers to have a monster game.
If I am Lavi I am preaching on pounding the pens defense.
Simmonds, Hartnell, Schenn, Talbot, hit and hit hard when the opportunity presents itself.
Play smart and be patient but also dictate the flow of play.
Gap control, the forwards have to support the D, especially with Grossmann out.

The NHL officiating is a complete joke. Any casual fan treying to watch game to game must be so confused.

Basically the NHL can come out and say they are going to call the game tighter, which in fact is ridiculous and unfair to both the players and fans.

I do not think it is to much to ask for a little consistency. That and to not cower down to the national media that does not care about the sport for 10 months out of the year.

The loss Wednesday to put it simply was disturbing. We could very well lose again tonight but we can't lose in that fashion.

With no defense, and a mediocre goalie, I have no faith the Flyers will win tonight. Sorry.

He didn't skate yesterday and is not believed to be making the trip with the team.

I'm a little concerned about the injuries for the Flyers. Everybody keeps talking about how the Flyers dominated games 2 and 3. I think those games need to be thrown out b/c Fleury was a sieve and the D was all over the place. In game 4 the Pens made the adjustments and not the Flyers. The Flyers really need to bring their A game tonight or all of a sudden the pressure is on them.

the pens made adjustments because it could've been there last game .. the flyers kinda just skated thinking they had already won. that 10-3 embarrassment could be just what they need to wake them up. I hope it's a lot closer tonight.

It's the playoffs and you think the games would be close but this series is nuts if you ask me. There is no way to predict what will happen. There is a lot of intensity on both sides but sometimes it seems their focus gets off and they do the stupidist things that make us want to throw a brick at our TV's.

This series tests our patience in every way imagineable. I have no idea who is going to win this game but obviously I pray it's us.

marcus hayes' article on philly.com makes me laugh. One lopside loss and the flyers season is over. we woke the sleeping bear that is the penguins. come on man. everyone is focusing on that loss, but not the three wins (2 comebacks). it's laughable that so many people are counting the flyers out.......and the series is 3-1 - flyers.

Tonight is the same situation for the Pens. However the pressure beigns to mount for Philly based on injuries, goaltender play, and assumptions of already winning the series.

Losing Grossmann hurts because of how well he has played. I think Gus will be okay tonight because he can skate. What worries me about Carle and Gus is their size and lack of strength down low. Still think the Flyers will be just fine.
- stveshdy

PLEASE somebody go piss in Coburn's cheerios today or do something to piss him off, we need him to me mean as all hell today no soft stuff. He has such big size and strength and speed, don't get me wrong he has been playing great of late and consistent (unlike previous years) but he can take his game to a whole new level if he just gets a taste for blood. Especially with Grossmann out, Coburn very well can be a key pivotal point in today's game imo.

IMO Game 1 is a better indicator of how this game will be.
