+/- can be a misleading statistic.

It can also be very revealing as well.

It's like a circumstantial piece of evidence in a court case. You have to back it up with something else or use it in conjunction with something. Doesn't tell the whole story in other words.

He had a pretty sick pass to Schenn on the PP to tie the game in Game 1 (I think that was the tying goal..)
- nhindian

That is true. He hasn't been totally awol, but he hasn't been anywhere near the force we need him to be in this series. I'm hoping he plays hero tomorrow.

It really shouldnt matter bc if Chicago doesnt play good defense the goalie is useless.

- stveshdy

Actually think Chicago has been playing good defense so hence my opinion to play Emery

Kind of hard to blame Crawford in a 3-2 OT loss imo. That entire team is hanging by a thread, if the third period was only 19 minutes long they would already be done.

He doesnt score. We already know that.

+/- is overrated. You can play well defensively and still be a minus 1 on any night. Your goalie could give up a soft goal your partner or forwards leave men wide open for an easy goal. Its not a stat that I personally like.

Same goes for the plus side.

Hmmm... He doesn't score, isn't physical, isn't big, not a shutdown guy, has a habit of turning the puck over, has a popgun shot, Lets pay him 5+ million per because he makes a pretty good first pass.

Bad judgement....

He's been incredibly bad. I hope he hasn't found confidence posting two shutout periods last night.
- PLindbergh31

They showed him laughing with some teammates after making a good glove save in the 1st. They were giving it to him. They might have broken some tension with that game yesterday. That's what worries me. A loose Pens team.

I agree with everything you said. In fact I posted that I dont want the Flyers to resign him at that price. I just think +/- is overrated.

The OT goal shouldn't have gone in like that though. That's a ballbreaker.

Yes it can be. I think everyone would agree on that. It can be overrated when not used in context. If you watch the games you know whether a players +/- has been earned.

Since were talking about scoring when does Hartnell plan on doing that in this series?

The Flyers d-core and goaltending concerns me the most. I'm pretty confident the Flyers will be able to score some goals. No reason not to think so.

He already scored with his hulk impression. Best moment of this series to date.

I don't see any game in this series under 7 goals regardless of how long it goes. The only reason I even use 7 as the number is because that's the lowest so far.

23 goals in 4 games, Hartnell not scoring yet, is basically sandwiched between how many hot dogs the dancing slob in the upper tank eats between periods, and who is scrubbing the poopters on the list of concerns.
