Philadelphia catalyst and emerging leader Claude Giroux is confident with Ilya Bryzgalov between the pipes. "I'm not worried about Bryz," said Giroux following Wednesday night's jaw-dropping 10-3 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. "He knows what he's got to do. He's a lead goaltender, and we've got to do a better job in front of him. He'll be our best player in Game 5." This first-round series has not been kind to any goaltender, but the Penguins may have built some momentum for themselves going back home for Game 5.

Bryz is going to be fine.

Well, I would not expect him to say, "You know what, Bryz (frank)ing blows. He is the worst goalie that I have ever played in front of!!!"

And you with the "everything is okay routine .

Actually, last night was so comical that today is one of my better days. You can go back 50 pages and check out my posts you will not find one resembling "sky is falling" "routine"

Everything is relatively okay. The series is 3-1 is it not?

Yep, next year Schenn and Couturier should be full time 2nd and 3rd line centers, IMO.
- funmaster18

So where does that put Briere? Wing?

I'm not really looking to start this debate because it's futile at this point, I'll wait till the season is over,

Actually talking to you today is making me re-evaluate my stance on Briere. Perhaps the coaching staff isn't utilizing him in the best possible manner. I'd at least like for them to move him over. I think he is a good enough player offensively that whatever discomfort he has at wing should be overcome.

I know b/c everyone else has the right to rag on players except me right. At least I admit my stance is possibly flawed.

With the goalie play and our defense DECIMATED, Danny is really low on my list of concerns.

Yep. Probably better for him as he gets older too.

I have no problem with that. If Briere's defense is such a concern why dont they move him to wing right now in these playoffs and move Schenn to center.

I think your stance on him is reasonable.

He is a one way player, who can be very good scoring clutch goals.

I personally think that would be a smart move. Goals are plentiful in this series and the team that plays better defensively will win.

I think the Flyers would be better off inserting Gus and Manning while Grossmann is out. Kubina cant skate or move at this point and it makes no sense to play him.

Put in defenseman who can skate. Their rookies and of course they will make mistakes but it cant be any worse than yesterday.

No it can't hurt at this point to play them. I think we are gonna need kubina later though. So let him rest up. Gonna need all the big bodies we can get later against the rags or boston even Washington or Ottawa really.

Kubina needs time off. Hes not ready to compete in his current condition.

Play the kids.

He definitely scores clutch goals, i just think the lack of defensive game negates that. If they can minimize the defensive liability from him, even if the offensive side takes a hit, I would prefer that. At this point I'd rather him average a half a point a game and be liable for almost nothing coming back the other way.

12 minors in a game is unacceptable. That's the first thing that needs to change tomorrow.

Other than Pronger, Meszaros, Grossmann, Kubina, MAB, and Timonen the defense core is healthy as a horse.
