With the way the team is playing in front of the goalies... you could have Roy and Hasek in net at the same time and it wouldnt matter.

So Flyers give up a 10 spot on home ice. The goaltending and defense looks exposed. Grossman gets concussed. Is the sky falling?
- Pixote Andolini

Don't think the sky is falling but their is concern.

It's a mystery.

Looks like Bartulis may be in the picture.

TSNBobMcKenzie Phi Oskars Bartulis on re-entry waivers today

- jak521

It's reached the level where a guy who hasn't played an NHL game all year might actually be in the lineup? Holy poop. What a cluste(frank).

people here are forgetting that Leighton played pretty solidly for us before ... SC winning goal aside.

if Bryz and Bob continue to have .722 save percentages I'd have no problem putting Leighton in.

dude could not possibly be worse than what's going on now.

- FlyerGuy

did you watch the goals he gave up last year against buffalo?? wow. If I see Leighton, I won't turn off bc i love the flyers, but I won't have much confidence.

who took a team to the SCF.
- KGBflyers10

He benefitted greatly from the matchups, thus his performance in said finals. Much the same reason Bob and Bryz are not benefitting from this matchup.

no problem. I will say all the pressue is on Pittsburgh to win on Friday -- we just need to keep it simple and expose their D.
- flyersfan51

that would be my game plan as well...keep it simple.
Watch tape and refocus.

Stay out of the box.

I may my post about the officating and quite frankly it's not going to change.

I agree the pressure is on Pittsburgh.

By the middle of the second with them up and power play after power play, the Flyers could not gain any traction. So be it, you have game like this...accept it and move on.

Game 5 is Friday.

What are the chances Bartulis is claimed by another team?
Higher them Leighton I would guess.

Not with Grossmann concussion, MAB's injuries and Kubina so ineffective (and quite possibly playing hurt). Need more bodies available.

why change all the lines when you're up 3-1.

Hartnell - Giroux - Jagr (hartsy is still setting people up)
Simmonds - Schenn - Briere
JVR - Read - Voracek
Welwood - Couts - Talbot

- flyersfan51

Because while we have scored 23 goals in 4 games, we have also allowed 22 goals in 4 games. I'm just starting to feel like the Briere line is getting lit up. I didn't see last nights game, but how much offensive pressure did Pitt get when Briere is on the ice with this line? At least get Voracek on his line, he plays some defense.

not suspension worthy????what is suspension worthy..... i know injury has something to do with suspensions why i dont know but it was a sneaky dirty hit
- Slammed81

yeah, I agree ... it was a sneaky dirty hit. But he was also playing the puck.

Malkin does that elbow stuff a lot, like our old friend Dorny. But I just don't see it as anything more than a hefty fine.

Must say I think it is better to lose 10-3 then losing a 4-3 game in OT....huge wake up call for these guys ...they will be ready to go and won't let that happen again.
- broadstreet11

I think that's true. That there's no thinking, oh we just need a little luck or just a little more of this or that. It was embarrassing (note G apologizing to the fans).

If they start Leighton it won't be the sky has fallen it will be the Earth went off it's orbit and slammed into the sun.

Bill, can you get into what the Leighton situation was/is with the organization concerning last year's playoff game against Buffalo?

If there was such a problem between him and the organization then why is he in net right now in practice? I've heard reports that BackIcan'tspellyournameproperly would see the net before Leighton, and yet--here is Leighton.

- KGBflyers10

I don't know all the details about what happened there. The official version is there was a misunderstanding, and Leighton had left with "someone's" permission after suffering an injury. The hearsay was that he'd gone AWOL and then claimed injury after his horrific and abbreviated game.

Whatever it was, team wants/needs a third goalie now (at least for practice days) and Leighton wants a chance to get an invite somewhere for training camp or a deal as some NHL team's backup. So they have to co-exist if there any bad feeling (don't know if there is or isn't).
