I dont see what rinaldo did was wrong after the hits by Malkin and kennedy to grosmann. Im only upset that he didnt send Crosby to early retirement. The penguins with the reckless way they are playing are going to have to pay the pipper sooner or later.
- Philly1980

michalek crumpled like a damn accordian. and then played dead on the ice while everyone stood around and watched. Malkin and Kennedy have no respect for the other players in the game. ridiciulous!

Truly embarrassing.

Bill, what are your thoughts on Rinaldo? Not only do I feel he SHOULD be suspended, but even if he's not, to me he's now proven how dangerous it is to have him in the lineup. It just seem inevitable that he'll do something stupid.

The Flyers can't risk stupidity in game 5 ... or beyond.

- FlyerGuy

Agreed. I've felt this way about him all season. I can't believe there's not a player just as good and less hockey dumb than him for that roster spot.

I'm ok with Gus and Lilja as a third D unit.

Just have to rely hard on the top 4 -- 24 minutes and up for them.

I've defended the guy a lot during the regular season ... but my opinion on him has changed. He's not only a punk, but he's a selfish player who is VERY immature.

That's a bad thing ... especially in the playoffs.

- FlyerGuy

I don't have a problem with him being on the roster during the regular season. But he's too much of a powder keg to be trusted in the playoffs.

I'll take that 3rd pairing over Pittsburghs. any word on Grossmann? definite concussion?

Thank you! Others are so sensitive on this board! if the flyers keep taking it like they have half of them are going to be injured. Keep letting the penguins take runs at your players and then see waht your left with. Its obvious what their game plan is. I make no apologies for wanting them to end crosbys career!

Rinaldo did last night precisely what the Penguins did at the end of game 3. There is no place in hockey for that type of garbage.

plus, the refs are on alert for him and he has no leeway at all. not saying what he did last night wasn't a penalty, but he does have a target on his back.

Just as Bill mentioned UBI, but Eskin said it was a concussion. He has sources who ever they may be.

yeah, I keep telling myself would I take a 3-1 lead going into Pittsburgh.....the answer is hell yes every single time!! who cares if we lose 1-0 or 20-0. It only counts for one win.

I like that Giroux apologized to the fans and said it won't happen again. Can't wait for Friday.

I caught that, too. Hope they are all on the same page.

Yeah, he was outstanding when he collided with Lilja on Neal's goal in game 3, as well as being turnstyled by Crosby in the first minute of game 2. How bout his turnover that nearly enabled the Penguins to tie the game in game 1. His two penalties and pathetic clearing attempt that lead to a Penguins goal were particularly stellar last night. Clearly all the ineptitude I have mentioned here is scapegoating.
- PLindbergh31

You can pick apart any defenseman's game. They have tough assignments, some more than others, and are going to get beat at times (especially by elite players like Crosby). You have to look at the bigger picture when judging defensemen, imo.

It's not over by any means. I expect the Flyers to figure out a way to win the series, but it's going to be difficult. As everyone thought it would be before the series. The 3-0 lead swelled everyone's head, including the players.

Yep.

Imho, he's a blend of Carcillo and Downey. That's not a good thing.

Matt Carle has been outstanding (discounting everyone's game 4). He's been playing big defensive minutes and has played them very well.
- bradleyc4

Not sure I'd call someone with a -2 on the series and having 2 assists in this high scoring track meet "outstanding". Yes he's logged a lot of minutes but he's not playing anywhere near the level of Coburn and Timonen.

Im sorry but the predatory play of the penguins this series and the action of Shannafail have driven me to this point. They have taken a run at Giroux, Couturier, and Grossmann. 1 game suspension for neals hits was a joke, and yesterday the hits by malkin and kennedy. Give me a break!

I'm the biggest Carle critic, and admittedly I go overboard with my criticism, but if you are stating Carle has played well in this series, I totally disagree.

That's what I am stating. They've been asking a lot more of him defensively in this series, against a really talented offensive team, and he's played admirably.

agreed. unreal. Neal should've gotten 2 and malkin should get 1, but he won't get anything.

I cannot lay blame on the defense in this game really except for that bonehead play by Carle when he had the puck behind the net on a shorthanded play that should have went out and he didnt. The forwards literally stopped skating and put no pressure on the penguins and allowed them to attack at full speed through the neutral zone, what is the defense supposed to do with those forwards coming at breakneck speed with noone in the way, that is what we did very well in the first three games and need to do moving forward, apply pressure and clog up the neutral zone so the defense have a chance. Bryzgalov was absolutely horrible last night, you cant blame the team for a defensive breakdown on the first goal that malkin scored as it was a routine shot that should never have been available for the rebound to Malkin. The other thing that bothered me about him last night is when he got pulled he looked absolutely disinterested and not engaged at all. I would have hoped that he was paying attention and looking pissed off like he was going to come back with a vengeance.
Hopefully Friday is a better game all around

Should've pulled the goalie and went with 6 attackers.
