I agree at some point you have to add pieces via trade, i am not arguing that. I just dont see the NEED at this time.
XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
I do. Team needs a serious shakeup to change the losing culture before it's too late and we end up like Florida was before...some skilled talent passing through but no results for a decade. The young players aren't being served well by just logging minutes in pathetic losing efforts for months at a time, it doesn't matter how much potential they have. "Another year of maturity" isn't good enough...team needs either a somewhat significant trade, and injection of the right players via free agency (not happening), or a management shakeup (not happening). The status quo=same results, even if a couple of promising young players filter in over the next few years. It's better for these players to come into a positive, productive atmosphere with the team winning than to come into ... this.
edit -- this does not mean sell the entire farm or trade Tavares and Hamonic for Trevor Linden...figure I'd state that before someone plays the Milbury card. |

With the Islanders that time came and flew right by years ago and as long as Wang and Snow are running things that time is never goign to come. PEople are oblivious that we are a bottom five team in the NHL. WE dont get better we stay in neautral. We pray for guys like Bailey and Nino and OKposo to all of sudden become super stars but we are going to be waiting a long time for that. Maybe we just dont know how to draft - kasperrko
where you saying the same thing for chara, bertuzzi, torres, luongo, spezza, dumont, mccabe?
despite what you 2 think, there is a right/wrong time to trade players/prospects. |

A few pieces away? The entire defense blows minus Hamonic. We didn't have a second, third, or fourth line for ninety percent of the year. We have one player who hits on the entire team. We have a coach who pulls his goalie with three minutes left in the game down by a goal amongst other acts of brilliance. Few pieces? More like a few dozen pieces. - Cptmjl
the sky is falling!!!! stop crying.
they are 1 top 6, 1 bottom 6, keeping haley up, 1 top 4 dman away from being a legit contender.... |

Nabakov is servicable, in essence we have to be happy with what we got and compared to DP and Montoya hes a no brainer but lets not think there is no question marks in goal. - Cptmjl
whats the question exactly in goal? |

Man what has happened to you. Without a legit coach and or GM no matter who is on this team this team is not legit. One top 6 to what play with Tavares? So we stay a one line team. Keeping Haley up is not our savior either. Granted the guy can hit and fight but that is about all he does and he does take some stupid penalities. one top Dman try two or three in that department. Plus they need someone regular in net |

I love Nabby but lets face it the Islanders will some how screw him up. DP yeah he sucks Poulin, Nillson, and Koskinen still have lots to prove so we are basically going with one NHL goalie and a goalie who really should have retired years ago - kasperrko
Why should Nabby have retired???

XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
Nope never said that. Just the Islanders have a way to mistreat guys who actually belong int he NHL. They will let him start then all of a sudden see the golden child at the end of the bench pouting and be like we need to play him our prodigal son return. After this happens Nabby gets mad the Islanders trade for a fourth or fifth round pick, Snow will think he should be GM of the year for the trade and Nabby goes on into the sunset and playoffs while we once again wait for the draft. Mark my words |

If you think thats all we need you need to take that book that you were talking about yesterday and beat yourself with it. We need a legitimate second through fourth line and an entirely new Defense minus Hamonic. You are depending on players who had ten good games the entire year that played ten good games the year before. I'd say a legit second line center, two second line wingers(barring PA getting signed which I'm not hundred percent on yet). Move Martin to the third line so an entire fourth line. Sprinkle a few players that are capable of hitting in the mix, a new coach, we have a competitive team let alone contender! Nabakov isn't carrying the load and we are once again going to throw a prospect into the mix so who knows about goaltending |

Do you really think Nabakov is going to carry the load? We have some depth as far as prospects but thats about it. Its a coin flip at best. The way you talk its like we have the second coming of Roy signed for next year |

i agree with this...in fact ive been saying the isles should see what they can get for the 4th pick and a prospect IE get a top 4 dman for that |

I don't think the sky is falling but i do know this team is alot worse than you think. If you actually believe that will make this team a legit contender(you did say contender)I don't know what to say any longer to you. Would it help? Absolutley. Contender? As in a legit cup contender? |

Ok you lost me. It is getting later in the day you know.
All I know Nabby is going to have to stand on his head in order for us to win games. He stole some last year and will need to do a lot more of that. If not for Nabby this year we would have battled Colombus for the worst team in the league |

if someone gave you a $100 bill, would you complain that your pockets are getting too heavy?? you seem to complain about EVERYTHING!!!
i watched every game last year and saw how badly they performed and how out-muscled they were day in a day out....BUT i also know these guys are young and only getting bigger and stronger and more developed AND i know what they have in the prospect department. TRUST ME, i know they need a top 4 Dman and another 2-3rd pairing dman. a few pieces on offense, 1 of which COULD be strome/nino, and haley (yes i believe his presence brings a HUGE level of competitiveness to the team) and i think they have a very solid chance to compete next seaseon.

I am a realist, I like reality. It's a nice place. I'm not complaining, telling it how it is. I don't believe in Santa or Snow for that matter. I agree with you on some points and i noticed that you added some more pieces as to what we need, now its getting more realistic. |

XxNYIxX - XxNYIxX
Oh that is simple what is wrong with one goalie is this, Nabby is getting older so he is going to need a break from time to time then good ole Dp comes waddling in with his new knees, hips, legs, arms, brain, head, eyes, ears, stomach, feet, fingers and beard and gives up 5 goals. Those are automatic at least 20 losses even if he last that long. Then Poulin comes up but the Islanders are afraid to make him play for some reason so they sign John Grahame again and we finsih last. See we need in this organization at least 5 capable goalies |

Baby steps?? The Islanders are not even crawling right now. No steps are being taken, We are in a holding pattern until at least 2015. We will miss the playoffs until Wang either one sells the team or two gets his arena. He will get his way and then maybe we will see some improvement |
