.............and Shanny missed the mark again....................
Could have sent a message to a star repeat offender and if they really wanted to send a message they would start by suspending based on intent instead of the result.
Don't forget that there wasn't even a penalty called on Torres' charge!
punching a guy 8x in the back of the head isn't a big deal? wow. just wow. the arrogance of that franchise and its fans.... - flyerscup2011
I didn't say that...one of the Flyer fans did.
8X?

Arrogance? I said I was glad another Flyer fan said something more realistic about the Asham incident. It LOOKED a lot worse than it was. I have no problem with his punishment. Is that arrogance?

"...what happened Friday night on Long Island wasn't hockey. It was a travesty. It was painful to watch the game I love turn into a sideshow like that.
"The NHL had a chance to send a clear and strong message that those kinds of actions are unacceptable and embarrassing to the sport. It failed.
"We, as a league, must do a better job of protecting the integrity of the game and the safety of our players. We must make it clear that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated and will be met with meaningful disciplinary action.
"If the events relating to Friday night reflect the state of the league, I need to re-think whether I want to be a part of it."
--The infallible Mario Lemieux, after the NHL "only" suspended Trevor Gillies 9 games, Matt Martin 4 games, fined the New York Islanders $100,000, and let the Penguins and coach Dan Bylsma off without reprimand* in February 2011

it was atleast 5x, quit splitting hairs. the asham incident was ugly as hell there's no defending that. only in pittsburgh
your a flyers fan, your franchise has lived off dirty play and goons since you have come into the NHL.
get a grip. - big_dion
The thing you have to realize about this is that Broad Street is ONE WAY ONLY.
A lot of them can't see their own dirty laundry and refuse now to even admit it ever existed...yet they want to continually remind others of their dirty laundry.
I have no problem with any of the punishments handed out to the Pens. We are down 3-0 in the series and with 3 forwards who play big minutes for the team (2 at least in Neal and Adams) it will hurt any chance we had of winning game 4. But that's the way it goes. If you goon it up, you pay the price.
But the funny thing about that is, it's the Flyer fans that are crying about the injustice.

It can never be enough for them.
I used to think a cup win would make them happy.
I don't even think that would do it anymore. - icedog97
of course you're fine with the punishment. it was way way way way way light. you are unbelieveable

As a Flyer fan I liked Asham when he was a Flyer... a real team guy, it seemed. What he did Sunday was stick up for a teammate and then through one (1) punch till he realized Brayden was hurt. I didn't see any dissrespect from Arron and I think if you looked at his actions as if he was on your team you would have liked him sticking up for your team. Yeah he broke a rule and got suspended but thats his job.
Neal on the other hand showed no respect for a player and targeted players that were embarassing his team. Not the kind of guy I want on my team.
As for Crosby.... if only he was a Flyer he would be celebrated.
Maybe Malkin will decide to show up now. Probaly not, hes made it clear that hes ready to play for mother Russia when the season is over....Commie - sammy87
he's been trying. but this jerk couturier keeps playing good defense against him

Go Flyers (I expect a very defensive game today) - Keep Your Head Up
