The pressure for the team to preform is at an alltime high... the leafs are breaking all the records for futility... If the Fans and Media do no affect the players.. The leafs have the worst collection of Owners, GMs, Coaches and Players over the past 40 years then.
Even though some of those GMs and coaches have won cups elsewhere.

no its not.

K, you're right about that but it is a definition word.

But I think you're being a bit ignorant about human psychology and the effect of mass criticism to one's performance.
But just because they are professionals and get paid they should be able to deal with it like how you report you succeed with your work and how you report you handle pressure.

Not 40 years....common now...but over the last 10 years or so the Leafs have had terrible managment, average players and horrible decisions that pulled them back some more. Its not like the Leafs have had STELLAR teams over the last 10-20 years and its the fans/media that tear them down

When the Leafs win in stretches or do well...they get A TON of praise for it...parades are scheduled etc. So dont act like its only negative fans that affect the players, because it goes both ways...they get uplifted when they play well, and get scrutinized when they play bad.

Its what is expected from fans...and should be expected by players.

go ahead.. my cousin played a short time in toronto, actually won the cup in colorado, went to the finals with the kings.

he said the pressure is pressure.. and you need to deal with it.

- Dozzer

You need to deal with is different then actually dealing with it.
Why didn't he win the cup in Toronto? What's his problem... can't handle pressue.

I'm not speaking about one player... I'm talking about the org.

i'm not saying the pressure is non existant.. i recognize that

i just dont think people should have reasons as to why they (frank)ed up..

when i make a mistake and my asks me why i own up and tell.. i messed up.. there is no reason for it other than human error

players are accountable.. and if they want to use the fanbase as an excuse then they should leave town.. they certainly dont say (as noename pointed out) how the fans were the reason they won because they cheered real good.

never make excuses, its unbecoming.. you either can handle it or you cant.

well...they failed cause they played with half a team of Marlies players and no starting goalie, a coach who couldnt coach a defensive system and Bozak as their number one center. Add to that, that some of their vets were guys like Connolly and Lombo who were playing on the third line....dosnt help either.

Not sure if those are excuses though....

I live in Nova Scotia... Alberta has refineries.

I'll vote Green Party next time though... makes it ok for me to work for a massive Oil company.

Sorry. Should have qualified. Bitumen refinery.

Elizabeth May prevents me from ever voting for them. She reminds me of my grade 2 teacher. Hated that female dog.

Newfoundland Gov(Willians) looked into building one capable of refining "sweet crude"(Grand bank oil).. but apparently the some law/fed gov agreement that it cant be built outside of Quebec without there approval..Would have to be challenged in court i believe..

The refinery on the island refines oil from Saudi Arabia and Hibernia oil refined in the US... ...

It depends on what you define as an excuse...it's all about your perception of a situation. I bet some of your clients get pissed because of some reason why you're late or whatever and say you're making excuses on why you can't provide the service like they want. Eventhough it's a legit reason but they think it's an excuse.

Hockey is mainly about confidence and momentum. And when you loose three in a row and everyone starts focusing on what's wrong, that is not a good situation. Then you loose the fourth game and you're getting booed by a bunch of ppl for underperforming when you're working your ass off.

I didnt' say that... I said it's worse in Toronto and it's a Reason(not the Reason) for their difficulties.
