Ballard & Tanev have been our best pairing IMO.

A friend of mine pointed out Kassian's turnover to Kopitar, and said "that's why AV doesn't play him"... I pointed out to my friend, "no, the turnover was caused because AV doesn't play him".

wonder why Edler and juice get passes on theirs?

My thoughts exactly but wanted to make sure I wasn't out to lunch, especially with the blind hope I still posses of us coming back

To be honest I like Ballard's game if he is given a fair opportunity and would prefer the Canucks to keep him instead of dumping him in the offseason.

if schnieder plays. Luongo should ask for a trade, go to Tampa and win a cup. Especially if AV isn't moving on. However putting Luongo in this game might be a bad idea. He has a fragile ego, sitting the last game may have done some damage and might throw him off.

I still l think schneids is the better return to trade, given all the upcoming goalies they have in the system as well. 60+ games? I have my doubts that schneids numbers will match Luo's in the first couple years as a starter.

I hope D. Sedin is actually fully recovered and not being rushed back. Take a page from Mitchells book, recover properly and don't rush back.

The issue is the D. And the lack of Coaching.

Lots of talk on the radio minutes ago .TSN rep and our radio guys discussing the fact that whomever starts tomorrow is being handed the keys to the new porche for next season. They said Schneiders body language is pointing to him getting the start.A caller called in with the TB story and Lu being pressured to move their or divorce time but that was quickly dismissed. If CS strts tomorrow it is basically the Canucks telling Lu they feel better with Schneider. There is no other way to take it.

I hope tomorrow is AVs last game also.Too many mistakes.I hope as soon as we lose AV is gone within 48 hrs.

I swear to god i'm not trying to troll, but that comment literally made me laugh out loud. It was as close to perfect comedic timing as HB ever gets.

I swear I feel terrible and I hope you beat the Kings tomorrow just to alleviate some of my guilt for lol'ing on this thread.

DONT BAN ME MICAH.

Oh wait, you can't.

Some posters (and bloggers) enjoy threads full of macho posturing and tough guy talk. Many don't. I spend most of my time in this thread making sure it's a place to talk hockey.

I can't speak for every thread: there are a lot of them and I'm just a volunteer with a day job and a toddler. All the mods do their best. But in this thread, the CoC is definitely enforced.

If you need help Beatle John will help you kick the trolls out.I would offer but most of my time is spent trying to unban DShiddy.

What's up fellas.
Busy day of work so only had time to listen to the radio instead of listen to the radio AND contribute with brilliant hockey insight in the comments section on hockeybuzz. A couple interesting things from Team 1040 today:

-Don Cherry was on. Said he didn't like the Brown on Sedin hit. In similar fashion to yours truly he said it was a cheap shot but still a clean hit.

That's pretty much it...

Gary Mason says he loves AV and he will likely stay. Says the core of Sedins, Burrows and Kesler can't go anywhere. Gillis made some questionable moves this year. He doesn't like Booth.

Ex-Canuck Mive Weave just scored for the Panthers. I knew the Canucks were fools for letting him walk. Was the missing piece in last year's run and already has more goals in these playoffs than the Sedins and Kesler combined.

AV is going to add Danny to the line up and immediately stick Booth who hasnt played with them on the top line. I have an idea...how about Burrows? I have a hunch he may play well with those two....

AV is a (frank)ing Franktard.

I think he coaching to be fired so he could go after the GM job in Mtl

I'll leave the rest aside, but the current delay of game penalty should be handled just like icing - facoff in the defensive zone, no line change. That manages to penalize the intent of the stated infraction without going way overboard.
- nfph

Agree, but still have a 2 minute penalty if it is blatant.

Panthers powering back from 0-3 to take the lead 4-3, Flyers making a habit of it against PIT. #playoffheart

The difference between the pre-TDL Canucks and post TDL Canucks is night & day. With Hodgson we were top 3 in GPG in the league. Since trading him, we've averaged 2.23 GPG which if that were the case for the whole season would've had us 2nd last in the NHL UNDER the LA Kings... Only better than the Wild.

The Kings went in the opposite direction at the TDL. They were bottom 3 in GPG all season, but since the trade deadline have averaged 3.04 GPG which if that were the case for the whole season would've had them 4th in the NHL (1st in the Western Conference).

Nothing before these current rosters were set really mattered. LA is the better team.

- DrChristianTroy

The Canucks offensive woes really seemed to start after the Boston game. Between that game and the TDL, they only averaged 2.68 GPG. Blaming the drop in offence on the Hodgson trade is a bit of a stretch. Not to say it didn't have an effect, but the problem seems to run deeper than that.

Also, is there any easier way to calculate GPG for a specific period other than tallying it myself and dividing?

I don't see it that way any more than starting Halak in MTL was a guarantee he'd be the starter the following season. You start Schneider for reasons of simple math: he let in 1, Lu let in 3 and 4. Lu didn't look bad but Schneider looked better.

Yeah, that should be it, only problem is that's kind of subjective.

As far as the Delay of Game penalty, I also liked an idea I heard Don Cherry throw out sometime last year. The glass behind the net is 8 feet higher than the top of the boards. The glass along the sides of the rink is only required to be 5 feet (although I think it's generally a little higher in most rinks). Make the glass higher on the sides of the rink, and keep the penalty as is. Then, if the puck goes over the glass, it's either definitely intentional or a dumb enough play that the player should be punished for it.

Of course it is, but so is every other penalty. I don't think the referees would choose to call the penalty unless it was very blatant if the rule was in place for a d-zone faceoff with no line change.
