The pens have to know what the deal is with the suspensions right? Just not public info yet?
- Just5

The second hearing wasn't even until 5 today (Asham).

Are they gonna wait until the game is over to announce? Perhaps the league doesn't want all 3 at the same time. So the pens are down too many men

to be honest i wouldnt be completely surprised if Couts and Giroux embellished the affects of those cheapshots just a teenie tiny bit. not saying they did, just saying its possible

*hides*

I don't think Giroux did ... Schenn maybe.

Couturier was hit really, really hard, and blindsided as well. Just no way to prepare for that. If the kid wanted to lay on the ice an extra minute or two I'm cutting him some slack.

Shanny can't get off the phone with Mario. Apparently Mario was blindsided that his boys would actually be disciplined and he is in such a state of shock that he's been calling Shanny back every time they hang up. Kind of like a girl that got dumped for a hotter girl right before the prom, he just needs to hear the explanation again and again.

it's delayed because Shanny's busy arguing on the phone with Homer over the fact that NO ONE will be suspended.

THE HEARING FOR SHAW WAS YESTERDAY AND THE ANNOUNCEMENT WASN'T UNTIL TODAY!!!!!! SO YOU MAY NOT KNOW UNTIL TOMORROW MORNING!!!!

"...what happened Friday night on Long Island wasn't hockey. It was a travesty. It was painful to watch the game I love turn into a sideshow like that.

"The NHL had a chance to send a clear and strong message that those kinds of actions are unacceptable and embarrassing to the sport. It failed.

"We, as a league, must do a better job of protecting the integrity of the game and the safety of our players. We must make it clear that those kinds of actions will not be tolerated and will be met with meaningful disciplinary action.

"If the events relating to Friday night reflect the state of the league, I need to re-think whether I want to be a part of it."

--The infallible Mario Lemieux, after the NHL "only" suspended Trevor Gillies 9 games, Matt Martin 4 games, fined the New York Islanders $100,000, and let the Penguins and coach Dan Bylsma off without

that man is arrogance incarnate

Mario has expressed disappointment (but not on the record) in his team today for their showing on Sunday. Maybe he's thinking he should at least pay lip service to being consistent with his criticism of LI last season.

They sure are building the drama on these suspensions.
I believe the league will do the right thing here and suspend both Neal and Asham for 4 games.
The NHL struggles for credibility as it is. I don't see how they can let this slide, and retain any semblance of legitimacy and impartiality. The non-fans (beloved by the Bettman NHL - and many of whom watched Sunday's game) already compare the league to the WWE. The only people not expecting suspensions are hockey fans, conditioned to expect the worst from the league offices.

I gotcha ... I think it's possible, but only the players know for sure.

Happens more than anyone will admit, especially when doing so can help your team.

Surprised at all the outrage on the Shaw suspension. Seemed pretty cut and dried. I'm not a big fan of the "you can't touch the goalie, even when he's out of the crease" rule, but that's the current rule. Shaw clearly broke it, and not only that he did so in a way that his principal point of contact was the goalies head.

Hitting the goalie, even a little, when he's playing the puck behind the net has never been allowed. In this case Shaw almost decapitated him. I fully expected him to get 2 - 3 games.

Again, I don't like that rule, but until they change it you can't just plow into the goalie when he's behind the net. Especially (either intentionally or accidentally) when you target his head.

And the smart hockey play is to force the turnover and get the puck to someone in front because the goalie isn't getting back, there.

Who are the "goons"? The only pure goon I can think of is Macintyre and he has not dressed in the playoffs.
