I just like Nashville. They have all the ingredients to win the west.
- stveshdy

Yes they do. Radulov was a hell of an addition. He's played well. If Nashville can figure out a way to win in spite of that stiff Suter, they might be ok. Suter is clearly riding Weber's coattails.

The best thing Rinaldo could have done in game 3. Would have been to leave the bench after Neal head hunted Giroux, and taught him a lesson.

I guess cursing off a ref doesn't help his image.

I've been watching him closely in that series and he is a stud. Anyone who thinks he needs Weber is crazy.

He was gone regardless. The game was over.. he was given a weak penalty just so the refs wouldnt let things get crazier.. he knew he wouldnt see the ice again so he let them know it was a poopty call and that they (frank)ed him over. The refs tossed him because they had reached their limit (with everyone).

What exactly is he going to do IF the game gets out of hand???? The days of "I'm going to send my enforcer out to beat up your enforcer" days are over. And nobody else is going to drop the gloves with him. There is ZERO reason to dress Shelly tomorrow. You have plenty of guys that can defend thier linemates if they absolutely need to. You would be playing into the Penguins hands by dressing Shelly. The reason we are winning these games is because we roll 4 lines that can score, adding Shelly hurts that, and helps the Penns in a game they most likely have ZERO intention of getting tough in...
- RooNosHockey

Shelley isn't dressing to be sent out to fight the other team's enforcer. This is the playoffs. Were not talking about agreed to fights here. Why have players like Simmonds and Hartnell fight battles if what happens in game 3 repeats itself? When you can have Shelley do it. Rinaldo has played between 4-6 minutes a game. And hasn't played in 2 out of the 3 3rd periods so far. So they aren't really rolling 4 lines. It's one game. Other players can be double shifted. There are numerous valid reasons for dressing Shelley.

Let the Ref's control it. If the Flyers jump out to a heavy early lead, you have them sit back in a defensive posture, dont get aggressive and sit your top guys...

I'm just going to disagree. Game 4 wont be like game 3. Shelly shouldnt dress. We have gone over our 3 page limit for this discussion, so I'm done... Whats the next topic? I thought Carle was awful in game 3...
- RooNosHockey

Carle wasn't awful. He had the one awful play, where he whiffed on a check attempt and took Lilja out of the play, allowing Neal in all alone. Otherwise I though he was okay. But I do think he can play better then he did in games 2 and 3. He was very good in game 1.

My point was that Shelley and Rinaldo is a wash in regards to penalties. (Shelley is just as prone as Rinaldo - who in my opinion has been pretty smart). The refs will be watching either of those guys for the slightest infraction.

Shelley is bigger and fights better. And, fighting does not matter. Most are going to walk away from Shelley. If he does get into a fight, he is going to get tossed... And, it really doesn't matter to win or loss a fight - case in point - Carcillo/Talbot fight. Talbot got his clock cleaned which was pretty much the turning point and the pens moved on to win the series. I'd rather Simmonds or Hartnell fight (if necessary) then putting Shelley in. If Shelley wants to fight... Let him pick a fight after the game, in the parking lot as the pens head to the bus....

Rinaldo is faster (quicker on the fore-check, quicker to get back on defense), hits more often (because he is quicker, won't get a late hit call that Shelley is more apt to take). Rinaldo has more offensive upside with 2g/7asst (versus Shelley's 1asst - granted half the games). More importantly, Rinaldo is a -1, versus Shelley's -6.

If your goal is to shake-hands Wednesday night... There is no reason to put Shelley in.

Shelley isn't just as prone as Rinaldo to taking penalties. It's not even close. I'd rather Simmonds and Hartnell play Hockey and stay healthy rather then fight. And it's not about who is the better hockey player. That has nothing to do with why I would play Shelley. Putting Shelley in isn't going to lessen the Flyers chances of winning game 4.
