true, Tavares for Leino and Hodgson?
- ShooterMcGavin

If that happened the crime rate would soar in Nassau County.

I wonder why Carkner gets a game, but Boyle gets nothing for his "sucker punches" the game before?

I think Shanny's formula is 1-4 sucker punches is fine, 4-8 gets you one game.
One playoff game equals is equal to what was it 12 normal games, so it's about a one to one ratio?

What's so hard to understand?

I'm getting the rights to NHLconversions.com

- tootooisapunk

Seriously? Night and Day...Carkner should have got more than a game, what Boyle did wasn't even close.

caps brought in players like wideman, ward and brouwer for the post season
it should surprise nobody that they are able to compete with the bruins right now

despite all the crap they got earlier in the season, they are starting to get the pieces to go on a cup run instead of a presidents trophy

- homiedclown

They are competing with the Bruins because they found a hot, unknown goalie more so than the players you listed, IMO. I'm not surprised they are comepeting with them but I will be surprised if they beat the Bruins.

Not what I meant by jumping. I meant hitting and attacking a guy who wasn't expecting it. Yes, Boyle did just hit the puck carrier, but that does not mean Boyle is subject to being hit (he wasn't carrying the puck). Plus I'm pretty sure it was blindside or at least close to (I'm not certain), it could have been like the hit last night where Brown leveled Sedin, who pretty much turned into the hit.
- snowstorm077

It wasn't blindside-

Hitting an idiot who didn't think to defend himself is more like it.

If I'm a Ranger and I just put a solid check on a smaller Sen and then get whacked by Carkner and don't defend myself, then color me an idiot.

Carkner was in his face, away from the play, literally lifted his head up and then began to speed-bag him.
If Boyle is that stupid to leave himself open after all those warnings, he should be playing table tennis.

The biggest losses for the Sabres may have been Tyler Myers and Christian Ehrhoff, especially during the playoff run. The Sabres were 30-14-3 with both Myers and Ehrhoff in the lineup and 9-18-8 without at least one of them. Without Myers, the team went 8-11-7, and without Ehrhoff the team went 3-10-3

This is why we NEED to go out and get another defenseman!!!

Ehrhoff-new defenseman
Regehr-Myers
McNabb-Weber / Sulzer(re-signed, he earned it)
Brennan first call-up
Leopold & Sekera traded (hopefully in moves to get Brown & move up for Galchenyuk)

After next year, McNabb should be able to move up to take Regehr's spot
This allows McNabb and Myers to gradually grow into a shutdown pair...
Instead of expecting it out of them now

Weber gets one last shot at showing he can be more consistent
Otherwise, Regehr can always be brought back cheaper to be a dependable 3rd pair guy... Plus, Brennan and possibly Pysyk ready for 3rd pair duty

2013-2014 defense
Ehrhoff - new D-man
McNabb - Myers
Brennan - Pysyk

And our defense looks pretty set for the next 6 years or so

If the nucks get swept and they feel the need to shake things up....what do we do to get Kesler.

Dont care what people think of him this series the dude is a phenomenal player.

I have always loved him as a player, but I think phenomenal is a reach. Good to very good I'd say. My buddy who is a pro scout thinks he is good but his numbers are exaggerated because he plays 2nd line center and doesnt get all the defensive attention the sisters get. His exact quote was amazing #2 center, would be a good, but not great #1 center.

wouldn't you prefer to have 3 very capable centers

Hodgson
Kesler
Ennis

In no particular order...Hodgson is still up in the air I guess

The UFA list for d-men this year is pretty awful, if that's what you were thinking.

I don't know why LA ever considered moving him in the first place?!
But if we offered vanek (who they supposedly have liked for a while) things could get interesting

As far as Brennan making it or not...
WAY too soon to tell IMO, but in my scenario he's on the 3rd pair, so I'm not too worried about whether he works out or not if that's all I'm looking for...
Maybe we keep Regehr at a discount
Maybe weber straightens himself out
Maybe one of our other youngsters steps up
At any rate, with a top4 that solid... We can patchwork the 3rd pair to some degree with a combo of young guys & cheap vets... And that should work out just fine for the 12min or so we'd need from them on a nightly basis

That's why I didn't throw out a particular name,
Was talking more in theory
I like Suter, not sure what else might be out there
But we do have many tradable pieces too

And with our top pair locked up
Letting the Myers & McNabb combo grow without as much pressure on them should work out quite nicely

I like your thought process
It's a big reason you've prob seen me talking about moving up for Galchenyuk (yes, I think he'll be very good)

#1 centers are obviously tough to acquire
So if we gotta go with three #2s... I'm ok with that, I think it'll work just fine
