i actually could of seen him getting more because while boyle may have saw it coming it was a sucker punch with his glove off.

End of the day Boyle is a pansy and I'm happy what Carkner did as it changed the attitude of the team in that game and hopefully for the series.

I'm still trying to figure out why the ref just stands there and doesn't do anything. They all wait until all the guys on the ice are piled on each other before they step in.

Yeah, I thought all Boyle did was facewash Karlsson.

it should of been dealt with that game, as anyone who messes with karlsson should have to answer to neil, smith, cowen, etc. Unfortunately that didn't happen and it rolled over to the next game and Carkner took it into his own hands. he paid the price for it, but it was a good move for the "team" in the end.

Losing him and causing the Rangers to lose Dubinsky was definitely worth it.

The LA/Vancouver game just as easily could have gotten out of hand last night, but the refs did a good job of keeping things under control. I think both teams realized that the refs weren't going to allow anything to happen and just continued to play the game instead of resorting to the tactics we've seen in several other games during the playoffs so far.

Referees don't typically get involved in breaking up fights. The training I've received as a referee is to stand clear and get a good view of what's going on to assess the right penalties.

At first I didn't understand the Dubinsky's third man in ruling. My understanding of that rule was that the first two players have to be involved in an altercation for which they both are going to get penalties, and a third player gets involved. Turns out the rule states that only one of them needs to be getting a penalty for it to be deemed an altercation.

You admire jumping a guy and sucker punching him?
- snowstorm077

No jump-
He lifted him up, squared him up, and lit him up.

no problem.
I'd like him in the B&G

Let's see...ref: 5'11 to 6'1 maybe 200lbs after Thanksgiving dinner.
No stun gun/taser.
Limited body protection.
Getting paid considerably less than the guys they police.

Combatant A: 6'7 240lbs
Combatant B (and aggressor) 6'4 230lbs
Both participants (regardless of size) throwing haymakers with elbows on the return side.

My view would be at a distance too-

I was so close to drafting Fleury for the playoff pool. Instead, I got Bryz. Who woulda thunk....

Not sure how your pool works but Bryz isnt exactly doing any better except in the W category, which might be all that matters in your pool. That and of course Bryz is moving on.

I might be in the minority here, but I admire how Carkner went after a 6'7 240#+ Boyle and turned him into a human pinata.

I think Boyle should be benched for not responding-

With all the un-avenged hits that have taken place in the SC so far, the Lucic/Miller episode looks pretty lame.

- Purple Eagle

I agree, with this and the thought is should have been handled in game.
Still Boyle deserved it and Carkner probably deserved the game. I'm sure he's fine with it and his team is probably glad he stuck up for the kid.

Having Dubinsky out for a game is just a bonus, even though it's prob a bad call in my opinion.

That, to me, would the the only reason to say "glad I picked Bryz over Fleury". 9 times out of 10, in a series with your goaltender playing like that, you lose.

ya know doubt....Weber gets a Fine for taking Zetterbergs head off...no suspension..Bitz gets 2 games...Whos next..Neal?? Shanny is a BIG joke
- Canuckfan2006

Bitz deserved 2 games, but Weber deserved one also.

Funny though that there were numerous trolls on these boards stopping in earlier in the year to make a comment about all of the crying the Sabres fans were doing about Shanahan's decision when it came to the Lucic hit.

I distinctly remember saying that the problem with the current system wasn't that Lucic wasn't suspended (though i still think he should have been), but rather the fact that we will see suspensions for lesser occurances at other times and there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the decision. In fact, I suggested that Shanahan should actually release a video describing why he chose NOT to suspend in incidents like that.

I'd love to see that for the Weber play now.

And I don't know why anyone is surprised by the fact that Shanahan is basing his discipline on how much/whether the player is injured. He did the same thing with the Rome/Horton hit last year.

Shanahan wasn't involved in discipline last year, . Colin Campbell was and mike Murphy and was the primary whenever greg camellia and the Bruins were playing.

Not what I meant by jumping. I meant hitting and attacking a guy who wasn't expecting it. Yes, Boyle did just hit the puck carrier, but that does not mean Boyle is subject to being hit (he wasn't carrying the puck). Plus I'm pretty sure it was blindside or at least close to (I'm not certain), it could have been like the hit last night where Brown leveled Sedin, who pretty much turned into the hit.
