Guaranteed Asham gets suspended, Neal might be fined but not suspended. Shanny made clear the other day when he fined Weber for his George the Animal Steel turnbuckle antics as opposed to suspending him. Seems as though tough guys will get suspended but not star players...pretty simple reasoning for this too. Shanny is employed by the League (the owners). When you suspend star players in the playoffs it hurts the owner's pockets, as the team they play for and their chances at winning diminish, which they don't like one bit. Suspending "role players" doesn't hurt the owner's wallets, hence the reason Shanny has no issue making them sit. Unfortunately it's not about player safety and that is simply an egregious offense to the game!

Did Couturier run Neal with an elbow earlier, or am I imagining it?

Double fine. No suspension. Couturier was an interference penalty, Giroux was a headshot but without a serious injury, he won't suspend for game 4

Let me know when you actually suit up for the Flyers so you can act as if you are part of the Flyers organization.

Reports are that Neal's two hearings are on the phone. So I'm not that confident of suspension.
- bodiva88

When league announces hearing, there's almost always a suspension. Fines generally announced as such immediately.

As Ek points out, Neal being a repeat offender under current NHL policy plus fact there were two incidents in same game is working against him here.

That said, I'm surprised by the announcement of the hearing. I expected only a fine -- but Neal has already been fined (on a HS) once this season, and has the 2009-10 suspension within the repeat offender window.

thats more than bold... thats.. um... ridiculous..

They would still have to go through Boston and Philly.

way Philly is playing right now...

I think it will be..

Smashville vs Philly in the finals.

Bertuzzi came out and fought Webs a minute into second game, fight was a draw but it looked like as far as teams were concerned, score was settled. Since then both teams just played hard nose hockey with just a few cheap shots here and there, nothing big. Trotz and Babcock both stand up good hockey coaches and just want teams to play the games. Seems as if teams have left game 1 behind, seems fans should too. Also, the Pens - Flyers game was out of control in the first, Pens need to concentrate on defense and goalkeeping and not worry about retribution. Hats off to Red Wings fans (and this our biggest rivals, hard for me to say) they haven't done a bunch of whining and just want teams to play. Game 4 Tuesday night!

Giving up 12 goals in three games usually doesn't bode well for a team. And I don't think Philly's opponent in the next round will be goaded into the "stupidity" like Pittsburgh has.
