You want to call Mario a hypocrite, that's your prerogative. Suspensions and fine are forthcoming, and I wouldn't be surprised if we hear something from him after that. I'm fine either way. Bashing the Penguins is the fashionable thing to do these day, so I'm sure no matter what he says (if he says anything) he's going to get lit up by the haters....and hey, its not like you have anything lse to do in Toronto right now, right? - Emperor Filonius

Don't think for a second that your team...because it's YOUR team...is above anything you have seen in the last few days.

I recall that after Downie attempted to launch McCammonds head into the bleachers, Randy Jones ending Bergerons season with a hit from behind and Hartnell giving Andy Alberts a concussion within a few weeks that the league sat down with Paul Holmgren and basically told him to tell his players to smarten up.
But the Flyers are never dirty. |

Hey Emp. I aplaud your frank post, and agree with most of it. The whole thing with Lemieux is he went on a rant about how this stuff is ruining the game, and it makes him want to leave, but then his team is one of the worst offenders. That is why he should address it. As for the Flyers history... there is nothing to apologize for. We admitted and embraced what we were. And we didn't complain when teams did to us the same thing we did to them. We are upset now, because that is not part of our game now and to say "well you did it in the past" does not excuse it being done to us now. Its a different game now. - RooNosHockey
The same fans using the "that's the way the Flyers played in the past" so they deserve it are the same group trying to get a pass for Matt Cooke all of sudden because this one year he has been fairly clean. I love the hypocrisy!

He is actually for incidents that occurred while he was on Dallas that are still in the 18 month window. CBJ his comes to mind. - ZHARRISON4
November 19th of 2009 does not fall w/in the 18 month window. That was the date of the Dorett incident. |

At the time of the quote, Cooke was the worst offender of the year. He was a saint this season, you guys moved onto something worse... the diving and head snappes that make it even more difficult for the refs to police the games.... and then yesterday... - RooNosHockey
But he and the team spoke out against Cooke. Marios letter was following a brawl game where the Islanders insitgated a series of incidents. Not a single headshot. So I ask again, how are the Penguins the worst offenders when it comes to instigating brawls.
All teams have divers and head snappers. I watched Dan Carcillo when he was playing for the Flyers take a Kovalchuck stick in the chest and snap his head back like he'd been punched. |

Ahh apologies. Do you think the high sticking fine from earlier this season would fall under this?
And if they use the Purcha hit (I know he did not get disciplined) he shows a history of head contact.
It's a shame big year for Neal and its a shame what happened yesterday since he is usually a pretty straight up player.

Most of us were against Cookes actions, a large group of us wanted him gone. The problem with that is that he can still score 15 goals and another team would have picked him up. |

I hear you, but like I said, I'm not excusing the fact that the Pens did what they did. Most Pens fans here are in complete agreement...that's the difference between the fanbases...you embraced it, we don't. Its not what the Penguins have been about for their 45 year history. We've entered a bizzaro world where for at least this series, the roles have reversed.
All I'm saying is that I'm not really in the mood to feel sorry for the Flyers, because like it or not you were the embodiment of what went on yesterday since 1967. Its easy to take the high moral round when you are winning, but lets see how they behave in a series when they get behind, before we declare this new generation of Flyers to be saints and angels. |

The Pittsburgh Penguins will be busy with Brendan Shanahan on Tuesday as forwards James Neal and Arron Asham have hearings booked with the NHL disciplinarian for incidents stemming from their game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.
Neal will have two separate hearings - one for his third period hit on Flyers rookie Sean Couturier and the other for a hit to the head on Flyers forward Claude Giroux. Neal was given a charging penalty for the latter hit, which saw four players - including Neal - receive 10-minute misconduct penalties.

I have a hard time understanding how that glove incident is such a big deal.
I realize it's Crosby...but to me...isn't complaining about THAT...really worse than what Crosby complains about...or at least EQUALLY as bad? |

what he needs to say is simple. something along the lines of "in light of comments i made last year, im disappointed in my teams actions yesterday blah blah blah, we will deal with the offenders internally blah blah blah, the penguins do not condone or accept what we saw on the ice yesterday." |

It probably makes him 13 which is abut the emotional age of Crosby when things aren't going his way.

I got ya buddy my brother trolls on here all the time so I will tell him to tone it down. I enjoy the Penguins but I still feel deeply that Bylsma I know it is the playoffs but I would be tempted to sit Crosby. This team did so well without him. I know it sounds dumb but it might wake up this team. I beleive if the Pens get one win that they can still wint his series |

The refs really failed when they made Neal skate across the ice to the penalty box, igniting everything up again, instead of just giving him a 10 minute misconduct and removing him from the game - ryman1566
The refs really did let things go waaayyyyy too far. Even with Crosby, everyone watching could see that he came unglued. Start giving 10's out with every stupid aggressive penalty, and if they do something stupid when they come back out, it's a game. |

If I'm Lemieux I'm pretty embarrased right now (particularly with some of the comments he made after that Islanders debacle last year), and probably need to drop in on a team meeting or practice and tell them to get their heads on strait. - whatthef
Was reading this rather logical post, but please Mario, don't start a gangbang involving Brian Strait. |
