Been thinking that since the game we blew the 2-0 lead and Hartnell won in OT in Philly - ryman1566
We have had a lead in every game. It's a 7 game series for a reason. We got them right where we want them |

After all the emotion has gone from watching yesterday's game it's a little easier to actually come to an opinion on the whole game.
Crosby's glove pushing thing to me was not a big deal but Crosby has to expect some gruff from the Flyers because of it.
As far as the extra curricular stuff Crosby was engaged in, yea that's playoff hockey but if your going to stick your nose in the middle of the scrums and even instigate then be prepared for the backlash and don't expect all your team mates to always back you up, fight your own battles.
I thought Letang's punching on Timonen after his sweater was over his head was low class.
I lost all respect for Neal, he came across as a petulant punk. There is no need to start running guys. IMO with Neal there was intent to injure.
Asham could have challenged Schenn without the crosscheck. That was a punk move as well.
Adams well I don't have a problem with what he did except for punching Hartnell when he was engaged with Crosby. I don't think he pulled Hartnell's hair on purpose.
I don't see how the pens have the D or discipline at this point to win more than a game. Flower has looked shell shocked. Bryz hasn't been that good either last game.
If Bryz can have a very solid game 4 and the flyers can play a disciplined high tempo game they should win Wednesday night.
Until then I wouldn't let up on the pens one bit. The slightest bit of confidence can build on itself then we see what happened in that Flyers Bruins series. Time for some killer instinct. |

The Flyers' fans can say all they want about Crosby (and they will because it fits their meme about him being a baby) - Tiogadog
It's not just the Flyers fans saying that about Crosby anymore, fans (and let's be honest, players and media too) all over the league are beginning to realize Sid is pretty immature. |

ya i would be in denial too if i were in your position, league wide conspiracy theory with penguins wasnt made up here first - jimlahey18
Keep telling yourself that there is a conspiracy. It's easier than looking at your own teams faults.

If adding the best player in the league is a determent to success, then there are quite a lot of problems the Pens need to sort out. - Gunner Staal
You just sort of wonder if the team had mentally moved past him coming back and Malkin had assumed the leadership (even if just by example) role. Crosby returns and you are forced to find a spot for him -- it sounds absurd on the surface, but it's difficult to overlook what has transpired since his return. |

The Bruins series and this one are way different. Every game in that series was close. And the Bruins best offensive player Krejci got hurt in game 3. The Flyers never lost focus in that series. The Pens have obviously lost focus and are pretty much cooked. I will be shocked if this series isnt over weds

True. Every knowledgable hockey fan I know has started rooting for the Flyers now. Rangers, Devils, Buffalo, Leafs fans all rooting for PHILLY.
The smart Pens fans see whats up. Chalking this up as another "dumb Philly fans over reacting again" thing is just smug and clueless reasoning. |

This team peaked about one month too soon, the situations with Lavi and Torts planted the seeds for a meltdown from all of the frustration, and a series versus their most hated rival has made for the perfect icing on a crap cake. - ryman1566
I think there may be something to this...but as was pointed out by others...as far back as last year (Mark Madden I think)...the system they play makes up for defensive hockey - at least when it's working.
When the system/style doesn't work...their poor defensive play was/is exposed.
The most glaring examples of this are the series loss to the Canadiens...in particular game 7.
The series loss to the Lightning...even when they didn't have the guns, they played this system...especially the 8-2 game at CEC when they had the first chance to clinch the series and bombed.
Just about every game they have played against the Flyers this year.
And it's not just the defensive players...it's the forwards failing to follow any player coming back up the ice...or not being in a position to prevent the other team's forwards from getting golden scoring chances. |

Any Pens news? Best trick ever let your rivals go up 3-0 in a series and then take the next 4 and watch the town burn. It's going to be great. Fantastic idea Pens. I love it - dbell646

Good summary...
It seemed like Crosby was trying to do anything to spark his team... obviously scoring quick opening goals didn't do anything. However, instead of his team responding positively, they acted like out of control children.
The Neal thing surprised me. Playing with an edge was one thing that I thought he was missing as far as being an elite power forward. Maybe he was just pissed off after twice pulling them to within one, his teammates gave up one right after.

One good question
If the Pennguins were to retool in a major way and send Crosby or Malkin packing leaving Staal as 2nd line ctr, who would you trade.
Up untill now i would say it would never be a possibilty to consider Crosby but with Malkins MVP year and Crosby with the injuries does that change?
Malkin definately has been more of a non factor this round, but both would create the biggest returns seen in years if not ever if strictly players |

If I had to choose one, I'd trade Malkin... but it doesn't matter, because trading either Malkin or Crosby, you are going to get less in return than what you give up. |

I too would trade Malkin.
Despite yesterday's antics and the outcry against Crosby, I think we all know he's the more consistent of the two. |

imagine what say the oilers would give up for Malkin, not to mention Crosby
I think Crosby has used all his Get our of Jail free passes and his stock is going down, id trade him.
And me a Flyers fan i have a picture of Me and Crosby on my wall from 04' with World Juniors and i was a big fan of his untill he started acting like a child. Most people have been following this guy since he's been 15-16 its not untill the NHL made him into what he that he lost his class

The hypocrites are the Flyers fans that were brought to their team after watching them goon it up, fight and play over the edge for so long, only to finally have a disciplined series, and now complain about a team gooning it up, fighting and playing over the edge. - ikyan
How long has it been since the Flyers were dirty in the playoffs?... Thats when every team was dirty. The flyers were just the best at it |

If you honest believe his stock is going down, you haven't been paying all that much attention. Coming back from more than a year away, and putting up more points per game than anyone else in the league, he's still got it, and will be back to his full potential next season.

A team would have to start the kings ransom with a young stud dman since thats their biggest need. The Oilers do not have this |
