Bylsma and other national media members don't work for Root Sports
- ryman1566

No, but Bylsma works for the Pens. My god, Ron Wilson pimped Phaneuf for the Norris trophy earlier.

btw, I would love for Fleury and the Pens to turn around- just not holding my breath

This team peaked about one month too soon, the situations with Lavi and Torts planted the seeds for a meltdown from all of the frustration, and a series versus their most hated rival has made for the perfect icing on a crap cake.

Didn't the Flyers lead the league in power play opportunities?? This would be the wrong time to complain about the refs, man

Edit: 2009-10 14.6 minutes per game. 5th MOST in league.
2010-11 16.9 minutes per game. 2nd MOST per game in league.
10.8 this year (not as much)

But keep trying.

- ryman1566

So you are trying to say that we are a cleaner team than you and that this is an out of ordinary series of events. Thank you very much.

It would follow the logic that better players put defending players in bad spots, thus leading to penalties. Nobody is hooking down Steve MacIntyre to save a scoring chance.

According to those numbers they have had 2622 power plays and been shorthanded 2577 time. So a difference of 45 powerplays is a HUGE conspiracy over a 7 year span. Take into account fighting majors, abbriviated powerplays, and offsetting, and that looks worse.

YOU ARE UP 3 GAMES TO 0. WTF IS THE PROBLEM HERE?

No just to show that the Pneguins year after year hover around the top 5 in powerplays since crosby coming into the league.

Per @SteveLepore, playoff ratings up 50% on NBC. Great news. PIT/PHI posted best ratings for a playoff game (excluding SC) in decade.

Can we all stop with the holier than thou attitudes about violence?

This kind of stuff targets the "rubbernecker" in us all. It's bringing attention to the sport for the wrong reason, though, IMO.

Those 6 extra power plays per season really show how over the top the league has been with helping the Pens. Wow... I'm glad he spelled it out with such compelling statistics.

A puck possesion game with elite skilled players will do that for you. Just like a running game controls the clock/posession in football. Pretty easy to figure out

Curious -- of course nobody can know the answer, but how do you guys think this series might have played out had Crosby not come back ? I thought the Pens were a solid favorite to come out of the East without Crosby (of course I thought his return elevated them to prohibitive favorite, so what do I know ?). The defense didn't seem as leaky prior to Crosby's return, but perhaps it was and I didn't take note of it.

If this guy had a clue, he would realized that when you play with the puck most the game, you tend to draw powerplays...

If adding the best player in the league is a determent to success, then there are quite a lot of problems the Pens need to sort out.

Oh, it was, but MAF was bailing them out big time. The 8-2 rout of TB when Malkin went for a hatty was a perfect example. TB got at LEAST 7 odd man breaks, and were stoned. All anyone wanted to talk about was Malkin, failing to see the glaring wart.

It could always be worse. While channel surfing and eating lunch, I noticed the WNBA Draft on ESPN 2.

Or...you could get outed by a friend after you enter that Nickelback ticket promo with Root Sports...

I wondered this too. I am not sure if we can blame him specifically. However, it was shortly after his return that the down slide on the team occurred. Did his return disturb team chemistry in some way? Not that I am privy to knowing. Did it create false expectations? Perhaps. Just not sure what caused the meltdown that is Flyeresque(old Flyers). Maybe the Talbot revealing of our team stratagies? I don't know.

Instead of Groundhog Day it was more like Reversal of Fortune. With the teams reversing roles.

Been thinking that since the game we blew the 2-0 lead and Hartnell won in OT in Philly

Any Pens news? Best trick ever let your rivals go up 3-0 in a series and then take the next 4 and watch the town burn. It's going to be great. Fantastic idea Pens. I love it
