The Canucks have to be one of the mentally weakest teams in sports. It starts from their back end right to the coaching. They lose thier best player and suddenly they can't score. Will say its not the goalies fault so much this season, but they always find a way to fall apart. That's the reason they will never win a cup. Great teams find a way to rise above. Not dive all over the place.

I have a hard time believing Schneider will ever be "off the table". You guys are stuck with Luongo, which is not a bad thing considering he is still one of the better goalies around. The best thing you can do with Schneider is play him to maximize his value and take advantage. This is exactly why these mega-long-term deals are such a mistake.

I'm willing to bet teams like T.O., Tampa, or Philly will offer sheet him the first chance they get. Compensation would be a 1st and a 3rd for contracts from 3.1-4.7 mill. I'd give him 4-4.5 million for 2-3 years and risk giving up those assets.

When he signs offers sheets for significantly higher than that, it doesn't matter if he's RFA. Also, it would be hard for an arbitrator to say his market value is 2.5MM when the market has offered him higher.

Obviously, its not over, but do you Canucks fans think AV is THE problem, or do changes need to be made to the Canucks core? The Canucks are lacking a leader IMO. Kesler could be the guy, but this year he's been anything but a leader.

Henrik is a great guy, but he's not a leader. He's delusional as (frank). He smiles in handshake row when we lose a series.

After last night's game, he didn't challenge his teammates to prove themselves in game 4, he spouted unrealistic BS about how we showed what kind of team we were last night... Yeah, we sure did Henrik.

When did Howard and Quick receive those contracts. It's based on what Howard and Quick had done prior to receiving those contracts, not what they've done now.

I also don't know everything in the CBA, but I thought even if you are arbitration eligible, you could still potentially sign an offer sheet? Even if you go to arbitration, that offer sheet would factor into the arbitrators decision since its by far the best indicator of what a player is worth in the market.

This sounds similar to Chicago and Niemi a couple of years back. The trouble with arbitration is that it might come to a figure that Gillis can't afford to hand out, and then he has to walk away from Schnieder without any compansation.

If I'm Gillis, I don't want to be in that trick box.

Schnieder will fetch a good return in a trade. Gillis still has Eddie Lack down on the farm, and he's a good goaltender.

I don't see the Canucks play enough to get a sense of what kind of leader he is, I wouldn't put that much stock on the fact that he tried to stay positive when talking to the press. Real issue is what he said in he room and what support he got from the other leaders on the team -- I would guess that the second point is the bigger problem.
