How bout them Leafs.....

Ummm... maybe a top 5 pick, an up and coming team, and no cup.

Then you have the Nucks....

President's trophy, Good (not great) team, and no cup

Same result.
Leafs fans just knew it first

- Climuster

Surprised Leafs fans still insist on getting in these pissing matches. The leafs are the laughing stock of the league. Let's just fast forward this argument to save some time:
Me: Longest drought, Seguin, Kessel, Burke, 1967, only team since lockout to not make playoffs, etc.
You: Ya well at least we won the Cup!!!

Brown makes contact with Henrik's head as well. Look like the same kind of hit except that Henrik had his head turned behind him.

We need a 2nd line Center. Kelser is a 2nd line RW. I'm more than willing to lose Edler in trade & keep Ballard with Tanev. Under a new coach, that pairing will stretch the ice with rushes & passes like nothing we've ever seen in this franchise's history. Especially with WINGERS like Kesler & Booth.

Yeah, I'll do it. I have Gar on speed dial.
In all reality, Luongo isn't a bad guy, I would take him if there was cap room with the new CBA. He has at least 6 more good years in him.

Please don't make a stink about that hit, that hit is what makes hockey so great. It rattled but didn't hurt Henrik, it was solid, no charge whatsoever, and his shoulder was down the whole time, and the point of contact was Sedin's shoulder.

Beautiful hockey hit, what's disgraceful is how suddenly every team feels like they can jump a guy for a good hit nowadays. That's exactly where the instigator should be enforced to the full extent. Not every good hit should have to be followed up by a scrum.

As for the canucks, what can you say really? No heart, no drive. Vigneault is a joke of a coach, the Sedins can't get it done and Kesler looks like a shadow of the guy he was last year. No chance of pulling out this series.

Fire the coach, trade luongo and the sedins for a nice fat return of youth a la Paul holmgren, and see if you can't reignite Kesler.

- TommyDeVito

^This.

If Kesler put an identical hit on Toews that Brown did on Henrik, every Canucks fan would be saying what a great hit it was. There was nothing wrong with it. I thought it was a charge at first, but after watching it again, Brown was coasting the entire time.

Not if another teams swoops in with an offer sheet... Dare I say "Edmonton?"
- Nerko77

That's why you file for arbitration and a team can't do that. And why would an Arbitrator give Schneider more money then Quick or Howard?

And what do Quick and Howard make?

2.5 for 2 years would do it. He'll be an UFA after and will cash in big. He's an RFA right now. You really think any Arbitrator will give him more then Howard or Quick if a deal can't be reached?

- IanEsplen

When he signs offers sheets for significantly higher than that, it doesn't matter if he's RFA. Also, it would be hard for an arbitrator to say his market value is 2.5MM when the market has offered him higher.

Obviously, its not over, but do you Canucks fans think AV is THE problem, or do changes need to be made to the Canucks core? The Canucks are lacking a leader IMO. Kesler could be the guy, but this year he's been anything but a leader.

My point was he should have had his captains back instead of blaming him.

I didn't hear Julian come out last year and say Horton has to keep him head up and not watch his pass.

Maybe it's Daniel's fault too. He should know blindside elbows can come at anytime.

- IanEsplen

Agree with you on this - even if AV knows in his heart that it was a clean hit on Henrik, he should have screamed bloody murder with the referees at the time it occurred and in the press afterward. You can't and don't allow that to happen to your captain. (There was never a time during the season that I was more PO'd than when Toews was mauled by Thornton and Clowe).

That said, the Canucks reputation has deteriorated to the point that major changes have to be made. Total loser AV out on the end of Gillis' boot and he can take morons like Lapierre and maybe even Burrows with him.

Unfortunate that this is (was) a very good team who won't win a Cup until some ingrates are removed from the scene.
