It is clear quick was the reason they won, just because brown got a lucky rebound does not mean he is the one who won the game for them

This team needs a massive shake up in the core and in the coaching, no one should be safe on this team.

Dustin Brown was physical, led by example, worked hard, won board battles and killed penalties. He was a force last night.

Agreed. Luongo played well. The team just plays better in front of Schneider. Tough call.
- Boinker

Has anyone considered this team doesn't play well in front of Lou because, oh I don't know... THEY DON'T TRUST HIM??? Watch how they all over compensate or better yet when Lou puts himself out of position making a basic save??? AV is guilty of mismanaging his assets and should be gone. He can take Lou with him since he has a man crush on him.

The winning team doesn't always dominate...that's exactly my point. LA has NOT dominated Vancouver other than in the win column...agree that's where it matters though.

perimeter play doesn't equate to 'carrying the play'

Exactly. LA was outshot and Quick threw up a shutout = Domination.

... And how many of those shots were actually "quality shots?"

There's shots and then there's shots THAT GO IN!

Quick is in lockdown mode.

So how does Gillis handle Luongo... Which one does he do first?

1. Go to Luongo and ask him if he's willing to waive his no-trade clause.
2. Go to Schneider and tell him he's hoping to trade Luongo, and ask Corey if he'd be willing to sign long term if that's the case.

- Scooby_Doo

Re step 1 - does he know if Luongo is tradeable or if there is a return he would consider? Worst outcome is getting Lou to say yes and then not being able to move him

You don't get an 80-40 shot advantage unless you are carrying the play. VAN has had WAY more quality chances on Quick than LA has had.

I'll continue to say it: goaltending and coaching isn't the problem in VAN...the Sedins and Kesler have put up mediocre at best numbers in the playoffs. Unless that changes, I don't care who is in net or behind the bench; they're not winning a thing.

You do if you're the Canucks. I've never seen so many perimeter shots in my life. Not even in the days of Nolan "Stapled to the boards at the blueline during the PP" Baumgartner or Mattias "Almost stands offside when taking his shots" Ohlund.

Leafs have never made it to stanley cup finals since 1966, vancouver has been there 3 times just saying.
- pker2theend

Isn't that kinda like bragging that you've seen someone win the lottery before but never won it yourself?

What's the difference, both teams should not be proud of the past 40+ years of work. They both haven't won, therefor bot teams have failed for those years.

Putting one above the other is juvinile and just grasping at any small fact to try and win a pointless argument.

I can honestly recall about 3 scoring chances last night. The Kings are keeping all our shots to the outside. If you watched the game, you would realize the shot totals are very deceiving.

Whatever.

I think we can both agree that any team is fine with being outshot if their goalie is producing shutouts. That's all that matters.

I know this isn't NHL12 on PS3... but what about shots?
- Scooby_Doo

Quick was good, but the LA D should get some recognition also. Vancouver had only 9 scoring chances on 41 shots, LA had 13 on only 20 shots. I'd say Quick is outstanding but does get a lot of help, and Schneider did pretty damn well anyway. How many of those Canuck shots hit Quick in the crest last night?

I've watched the entire series. VAN is getting as many, if not more chances game in and game out but no traffic in front of Quick. LA is the more physical team and are winning all the little battles needed to score the dirty goals.

Van is frustrated and have taken dumb penalties at dumb moments, something they're done each of the last 4 playoff years.

Van's top players haven't produced and are being badly out-competed by LA's top players.

That's the series so far IMO.

oh now back to the Luongo has no trade value comments.

his contract... his meltdowns... pretty sure Luongo increased his trade value but not melting down.
