Neal and Asham have hearings but not Adams?

So in other words, you're blaming Crosby for the actions of Asham, Neal, Letang and Adams?

I'm not denying that Crosby played a role. But he's not the only guy in the league that tries to stir the pot when his team in in a hole or out of frustration.

Asham's known as a chippy player whether he's a Pen or Islander or Flyer or Devil. Neal got suspended as a member of Dallas. Adams and Letang intervened when their team's star player with concussion problems was involved in fights. You saying you'd have a problem if Hartnell jumped in if Giroux was sparring?

And if you want to blame Pens' leadership for the "debacle" yesterday, it starts with Mario Lemieux

- Jsaquella

would not have a problem at all with hartnell jumping in didn't have a problem with adams sticking up for Crosby what i did have a problem with was the 9 punches to the back of the head and then the hair pulling he is nothing but a coward...... and you are right it all starts up stairs the great Mario Lemieux has been very quit on what happened yesterday ... when this happened with the islanders he made his comments known to the media but in that situation the Islanders were the aggressors but this time it was his team and no comments no putting down the attitude no being disappointed with what happened.... i will give him credit for 1 thing tho what ever he said to Matt Cooke has worked cause he has calmed right down.. maybe it is time to talk to the rest of his team ???

Since that is an auto suspension defined in the rule book (meaning no judgement call on number of games that I'm aware of) there is probably no need for one

Don't be surprised if they rescind the instigator on Adams.

wouldn't surprise me at all but we can let Adams play he doesn't do anything on the other hand losing Neal hurts their power-play and one of their top lines so i hope he gets at least 1 game because even of you take the coots hit away he targeted Giroux's head, and then you put the leaping hit to coots head in there as well if its not a suspension then Shanahan is just way off his rocker

I can see both sides here.. Each of these players act on their own accord... but with that being said.. Crosby sparked most of it.

If Crosby doesnt smack Czechies glove does Timonen go and smack Crosby's stick? Not likely... and if he doesnt smack Crosby's stick, does Letang jump Timonen? Not likely.

If Crosby isnt pulling Hartnell by the collar, does Hartnell go after or respond to Crosby.. probably not.. If he doesnt, does Adams feel the need to just go up to Hartnell and start wailing?

Letang and Adams I think have direct relations to Crosbys antics. Asham and Neal IMO have very slight indirect connections to Crosbys antics. These guys see he is playing that chippy dirty way.. and they followed suit.

Did you root for Jaromir Jagr this year? Did you abandon the Flyers when they traded for Ulf Samuelsson? How do you feel about Max Talbot, who SHHH'd the WFC in 2009?
- Jsaquella

as an emphatic crosby hater i have to chime in here

i never hated jagr

i just called him big butt and was afraid he was about to score on us on every shift

i still call him big butt

the talbot thing never really bothered me, i missed that game while out of the country and i always thought it was dumb that the flyers collapse was ever blamed on carcillo WINNING a fight.

I get where he's coming from. Crosby should be capable of controlling his team. He didn't control them. I think he spoke more words to the Flyers then he ever did with his whole bench. In fact he was out there doing his best Avery impersonation quite a bit too. He's not directly responsible for those named incidents but he should of urged those guys to play differently. Ultimately the Captain always has to answer for his team. And the fact Sid was instigating a bunch of the scrums puts him a bit more at fault than usual.
- hereticpride

Honestly, I'll be happy if Croby's out there instigating again in game 4, because it means he's worrying about getting under the Flyers' skin and not about doing damage on the scoreboard

Asham didn't suddenly become a guy capable of laying a dirty hit when he signed with the Pens. That's my issue. Not Crosby acting like a spoiled child. One doesn't lead to the other.

I don't think they rescind the instigator on Adams because he started punching Hartnell in the back of the head to start. Not exactly "the code" of hockey to start a fight with a fellow player.

And you blame all of those bolded actions, by guys NOT named Crosby, on Crosby and his leadership.

That is illogical.

The logical analysis of yesterday's game will be simple-the Penguins have been owned by the Flyers this year. They were favorites in a playoff series in which they led each of the first three games, and ended up losing each game, including two at home.

In each of their last six games against the Flyers, the Pens have taken an early lead, only to have the Flyers come back in each game. The only one of those 6 that the Pens won, the game was meaningless.

That equals frustration. The Pens have thrown everything but the kitchen sink at the Flyers and still can't beat them. Asham's crosscheck and punches to Schenn's head and Neal's hit were pure frustration.

Letang and Adams were cases of teammates coming to the aid of their team's star player. Just like Flyers fans would applaud Hartnell coming to the aid of Giroux.

- Jsaquella

Well, the Letang fight started because Crosby hit the glove away, which got Letang kicked out early. Adams came to his captains defence, after Crosby grabbed Hartnell out if the blue. Adams will be suspended one game. So basically he caused his teamates two games. Neal was just being a sore loser.

Very entertaining game yesterday. Love coming to work on Monday with no voice. Ppl ask if I'm sick and I tell them I was @ Flyers/Pens game, then I just get a look.

Morons.

Flyers put this series away on Wednesday and get rested up for round 2. Get JVR some practice time, too!

What I'm saying is, that even if Crosby wasn't instigating stuff, do you think that Asham doesn't go after Schenn after his big hit?

Do you think that after Couturier hit Neal in the first period, Neal didn;t have that number 14 in the back of his mind and knew that if he had an open chance he was going to take it?

Letang and Adams do have direct links to Crosby's actions. But at the same time that stuff is garden variety stuff that happens from time to time. What if Giroux was locked up with somebody because he whacked at the guy? Would you criticize Hartnell for jumping in? No, we'd praise him for having Giroux's back, just like we all praised Schultz for having Clarkie's back and Tocchet and Dave Brown for having guys backs in the 1980's.

it doesn't lead to another, but one part of leadership is knowing those you lead. he should have known his teammates would take similar actions given the circumstances. the asham crosscheck was completely spur of the moment, so that's not crosby's fault. but the pens lost focus on playing hockey, they followed their leader and acted like petulant children, that is his fault

Actually, Letang came after Timonen, who went after Crosby after the glove knock. Which again, if I see Giroux mixing it up, I want Hartnell or somebody else involved so Giroux doesn't have to fight.

To me, the fights are an extension of the game and the emotion. Stuff like that happens. Teams are going to defend their star players, even when the star players start the trouble

Watching the broadcast yesterday, was it my imagination or did the following occur:

Laviolette and Berube confer

Berube pulls Simmonds aside and says "No BS just fight him, ok?"
Simmonds nods "Yeah, I got him"

Simmonds then goes out and tries to goad Neal, who was not willing...

I don't know man. It would be a hard one. Jagr is a different player now than he was when he played for the Pens and Caps. I honestly didn't mind him as a Ranger so his evolution had already started when he began dressing in blue. Samuelsson was a minor piece when he was with Philly. Talbot is a classic love them when they're on your team, hate them when not, kind of guy, but he is just a cog. Crosby will be the face of whatever franchise he plays for and until he evolves a la old man Jagr, I'd be disgusted if he was the face of the Flyers franchise.

It seemed to me, Kimmo went up to Crosby to just say that wasn't cool. Then Crosby started pushing Kimmo in the face. Only then did Letang come over and take on KImmo. He didn't want to fight, but had too once Letang got involved.

What a riot. You know the Pens have turned completely to the dark side when Isles, Rangers, and Devils fans are openly rooting for the Flyers

And Sabres fans stop rooting against them.
