Huh? Lemieux was a known whiner and diver during his playing days, and wasn't above some chippiness.
- Jsaquella

i'd consider those minor infractions. he certainly never disgraced the game the way #87 did yesterday

Well NHL Network basically glossed over the Neal hits, but with the suspension coming, or at least the 2 calls, the media is going to be all over this. I'm telling you this is how the love-child team gets to become the heels...

All its going to take is 1 media person metioning the Lemieux quotes, and how Torts and Lavi were right and I can see the media storm starting... And people will look back to the diving, the slashes, the no hand-shake... last game from Crosby and see what kind of player he is...

- RooNosHockey

Turning heels with Hogan on the jumbotron and Real American playing as Hartnell gets tossed and getting the crowd pumped was a pretty amazing sight, and pretty darned appropriate considering how the Pens were playing.

They should.

Asham - self explanatory.

Neal - going after a player without the puck, leaving feet, intent to injure

Adams - ??? What is the defense. Third man in. Punching a player from behind. Double teaming which is illegal in the WWF. Pulling hair (also illegal in the WWF).

Penguins have tough players but everything is a slash, cheap shot, hit on a guy without the puck. Asham is a former Flyer - he knows better. He should have taken on Simmonds or Rinaldo.

The Penguins not only were cheap shot artists but ruined their own chances of winning by being reckless. I can't imagine Malkin likes playing in this environment.

Crosby, on the other hand, seems right at home.

- Daman

Huh? Malkin is one of the cheapest bastards over there. The fact that I am not screaming for blood on him for something is surprising. He is always doing sneaky little BS intent to injure crap behind the play.

I'm sure most remember the Flyers / Ottawa brawl from several years ago. Each player taking care of things on the ice, one on one, straight up. Recchi. Patrick Sharp if memory serves. All straight up.

I'll eat my shoes and post on youtube if the Penguins act in a similar way.

Cheap shots. Third men in.

Every team has a bad episode, boarding, etc. But this goes way beyond.

- Daman

i wholeheartedly agree, i've never been this incensed this bad before. the penguins made a mockery of sportsmanship

as much as i want blood for neal, i'm at the point, where i want him out of the game on wednesday if not the rest, so he has zero chance of helping his team come back.
- hammarby31

I agree. Get Adams, Asham, and Neal out, and just play straight up hockey against Cindy "I dont like him" Crysby. Put this one away and watch as the league apologizes when Crosby doesnt shake hands....

“You ask the best player in the world, Sidney Crosby, what they were thinking and he said 'that’s playoff hockey.' For me, that’s not playoff hockey, it’s dangerous hockey. It’s trying to hurt some people out there."

this season is the first i've seen him as a dirty player. i've always (up until recently) had an admiration for him. everybody has their bad moments. he's also gotta be influenced by his teammates. and as others have pointed out he can't be happy that he carried the team all year, but it's still sydney's team

This series has been sick. Philly deserves it. A sweep would be epic. Im amazed not one Pens fan chimed in on this thread. Was hoping for a little back and forth but nothing they could even say I guess.

In the 2007 playoffs, Malkin slew footed Paul Mara, then of the Rangers, 3 times in on shift.

Malkin can be a nasty player, when he's pissed.

I'd imagine he's done for the playoffs that way they can get away with giving Neal less.

To be fair, we have several very good Pens fans who regularly visit, and most of them voiced displeasure at the way members of their team acted.

i think Neal gets a game.... Shanny has been pretty consistent when players leave there feet... otherwise he seems to be lost but usually when a player leaves there feet he usually gives them a suspension

I was watching the game on and off due to some various issues. But based on what I saw, Malkin's nonsense was minor compared to Asham and Neal.

In either case, I think it would be a stretch to suggest Malkin prefers yesterdays game to an Olympic style hockey. Actually, its outlandish.

what he orchestrated, what he instigated, what his teammates did on his behalf, imo disgraced the game

This is the bottom line, gentlemen....I'll try to articulate it with some anecdotes....

I'm 18. I have a 14 year old brother. Very competitive. I remember when he was about 6, and I was in Elementary school, and it'd be a gross rainy day outside. So what do we do? We play board games, or playstation, of course!!

Well, we'd play for a long time. Different games and more than once. Naturally, I was beating him pretty consistently. After all, I was the big kid. Well, after a while he got mad...he'd throw a board piece....a card...then, after a few more games he started kicking the board. Throwing the controller. Turning of the playstation....for all of you parents out here, I'd imagine you see the exact same thing in your kids.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Penguins. We've beat them in every meaningful game this season, and the Penguins are now kicking the Chutes and Ladders board, frantically kicking and screaming, throwing the deck of cards, throwing the controller, and turning of the PS2.

This is what happens in a beer league, or in High School. They're acting not like spoiled brats (although this is definitely a factor), but the worst sore loser that I've ever seen in the history of any sport. The Flyers are not instigating anything. They're playing hockey. No cheapshots...nothing like that. In my opinion, it's all (or, at least- the vast majority) business on the Flyers' end.

The Penguins have hit a new low. And this low is different then a regular rivalry. This low is not like how Eagles fans hate the Cowboys. The Penguins arrived here through disgraceful, cowardly, immature, embarrassing, infuriating, gutless, and shameful behavior. If I were a Pens fan, I'd wear a paper bag. And it's not because of their record, obviously.

I'm just praying that no one gets seriously hurt on Wednesday.

He did and he is very good at it, but most players in the NHL slew foot one another, its almost just common practice.
