Boyle is no tough guy. DO you watch any rangers games? Boyle had 3 fights in the regular season and one was an instigator for the opponent.
- BuffMAN74

well, if he's not a tough guy, he shouldn't have tried acting like one with karlsson. if you're gonna play tough guy with smaller guys, you better be willing to answer when the bigger guys come calling....ESPECIALLY if you're twice the size of the smaller guys you're messing with. boyle got what he deserved, which was a beating, and being made to look like a giant puss on national tv.

I think it's a case of if the league won't do anything, the players will.

Don't be suprsied if next year teams gear up by find 2-3 goons just to beat the snot out of the other teams stars.

A league that won't propect it's stars is a league that won't be in business much longer.

the headshots have to stop. Shanny needs to start doing something or someone will die in the playoffs.

But I guess it's an emotional game, so that's ok right

Maybe Boyle learned a lot from Avery

even though hagelin hasnt had any prior incidents he should be suspended 2 games (playoffs, =3 reg) as that is pretty much the picture "perfect" hit the league wants out, elbow to the head causing injury

carkner should get a game

Yeah makes complete sense. Boyle will punch Karlsson a bunch of times, but when gets challenged runs away. Karlsson couldn't defend himself, and neither could Boyle.
And the miss matches were clear for each incident.

- SensHockey

So carkner taking Boyle to the ice a beating his head like a steak is equal to Boyle hitting karllson in the face with the glove on?

Like I said I have no problem wih Boyle being taken to task for what he did..but not the way carkner went about it.

what boyle did is EXACTLY what d-bags like avery, ruutu, lapierre, etc, have been doing for years. they play dirty with smaller guys, and then turtle like little biatches when it's time to answer the bell. what carkner did was technically out of line, but good for him for taking a stand. i would have LOVED to see someone do that to ruutu when he was playing for ottawa.

Hagelin should get 2 or 3.......pretty deliberate

Carkner should get a pat on the back.......if Boyle is gonna go after a wussy star he needs to answer the bell.......if he doesn't want to, then don't go after the star. He desreved a punch in the face whether he wanted to fight or not.

You do realize what carkner did was a total mugging?

I have no problem with taking Boyle to task, but what he did is uncalled for. Carkner in no way squared up with Boyle. Look at the video again. I still haven't seen the haglien elbow so I won't comment on it.

- TrueBlue9182

Oh, you mean the same kind of mugging that happened when the Isle attacked the Pens but everybody hates mario for saying something about it. Furthermore.... one of Torts angels takes a head shot? NOOOOOOO Cant be.... Torts team is totally clean. Torts is the biggest crying SOB Embarrassment. Didn't see him blow up about no respect after what Boyle did in game one. Also didn't blow up after the head shot last night. Double standard hypocrite!

The problem is the way the game is officiated.

Let the player police themselves. In the last game Boyle did a very similar thing to Karrlson and nothing was called. Carkner was doing his job.

The officiating, including shanaban, is a joke.

- ggunky

I agree, but nobody should end up like Steve Moore either. Has to be a certain tone sent with suspensions in the playoffs, if not now, someone could get hurt really badly later on.

and this is pure bullpoop.........a suspension is a suspension is a suspension....
the time of year should have no bearing......if it does then there's a major flaw in the discipline system

carkner gave him a chance to drop the gloves, and boyle didn't take it. was he supposed to just skate away? hell, even when he did drop with neil, he looked terrified, grabbed on to neil for dear life, and got to the ice as fast as humanly possible. boyle thought he could play tough with karlsson, obviously the sens weren't gonna take it, and they showed boyle to be the giant wuss that he is.

if neil had been punching gaborik in the face, and then turtled when prust or whoever tried to fight him, you guys would be saying the EXACT same thing.

You did watch him fight neil later in the game? He didn't turtle he was never given the chance to fight back against carkner.

Carkner wrapped him up and took him to the ice and started beating him.

And don't compare Boyle to avery... That's just silly.

im just going off of what happened last year, and that shanahan also said that he looks at it as a series where its different than an 82 game season, has to take that into account

i believe campbell said that one of the incidents would have been 3 games in the reg season but only 1 in playoffs (or something to that degree)

Carkner-Yes, Boyle is a chicken. Man up. But he'll get a Shannaban

Hagelin-Precident has been set, he'll get at least a game.

Burns-He'll get a game.

Galiardi-Might get a game, but McDonald has to keep his head up.

The Sharks/Blues Brawl-That was fun to watch. Not sure about the Sobotka punch. Although Moore likes to get involved in pushing and shoving matches despite his gloves seemingly being glued on. Probably deserved it.

Shaw/Smith-Not sure, I thought when a player had been knocked out that he is supposed to go to the quiet room. Does that not apply to goalies or was their some "Look how hurt I am" while the refs discuss whether it's a minor or a major.

- Ben37

Smith was a bit of a hit and alot of embellishing for sure .. if he was hit that hard he would of been in the quiet room

Neither should the name on back of the sweater or prior suspensions ( so why,? so you get a few freebies so a player can really make the infraction worth their time?), stars should get the same treatment as 4th line plugs as well. Call it all or nothing, all the time, including the playoffs and OT.

But when the Rangers do it it's justice and the team standing up for themselves. When it happens to the Rangers it's thuggery and the league needs to intervene.

Tortorella dictated the series by the physical play. Nothing wrong with that, but it's THE KIND of play that had Ottawa either "play it" or be beaten and OUT in four. It's not their game, but you can't roll over either.

Either way, let it go, or crack down on it. What kind of image does the NHL want to portray to the American audience?

no, i watched him grab on to neil for dear life and try to fall to the ice as fast as humanly possible, without even attempting to throw a punch. sorry, boyle is a pu$$y

Actually yes ... he is supposed to skate away or throw one shot ... throwing mutipul shots to a guys head with your fist without him defending himself is the definition of a cheap shot ... imo ... not saying it was't deserved but common.

you're right, avery would, occasionally, back up his B.S., i doubt boyle would.
