No, I am not OK with the way the games are being played. The officiating is an absolute joke. Every second hit is a charge, regardless of whether the head is involved. There is definitely no respect within the NHL game, and unfortunately that filters into lower levels of the game. Hockey, even in rural Canada is fast becoming a niche sport, and by and large years of stupidity at the NHL is the cause. The sport at all levels is now inhabited by the idiots and bullies in society. Unfortunately, hockey is no longer a sport, but rather roller derby on blades!

are refs allowed to break up fights or only lines men? because that wussy ref in the NY OTT game just sat there 5 feet from cartner kicking the S%!# out of boyle and all he did was put his arm up dubinsky had to go in to try to break up the fight.

I'm looking forward to Mario Lemieux's statement to the league. I know he hates teams who play like the Penguins did today. And I assume he's not a hypocrite, right?
- lifexkills

hahaha, the word gutless better be in that memo somewhere
especially with crosby going after the head of the flyers...

Any updates on Couturier and Giroux? (frank)ing pens.

Feels weird to root for the Fly boys but they're hard to hate these days.

And the Penguins just continue to fuel the point of this blog... What an absolutely dirty disguisting display of hockey tonight by the Penguins. Clearly it was frustration as they went after Giroux, Schenn, Courutier... the three players (other than Briere) who have shredded them up this series.

Finally, it isn't just Flyers fans talking about how the Penguins are whining/dirty players. Finally the rest of the people around the league are realizing it.

I'm far from a flyers fan, and was actually rooting for Pittsburgh, but after today's game, go flyers and frank Crosby

Is the rest of the NHL finally starting to understand what Flyers fans have been saying about Crosby since the minute he stepped on the ice in the NHL?

I don't really get how I'm a wuss?? hah I'll stick to writing (using uppercases like an adult). If you actually care about hockey and playing the game within the rules, Carkner continued 'to inflict punishment upon an opponent who was an unwilling combatant'.

I tune in to watch hockey not the mayhem that has been going on in the philly/pens, sens/rags series.

Refs need to step up and make the calls that will protect the star players

This game showed pretty clear cut hoe much of a puss Crosby is... Crosby goes after Timonen of all people and G comes in to protect him and G and Crosby square off for .75 seconds and the refs jump in and grab Giroux... What a joke that was. G would have destroed Crosby and the league would not let it happen. What a joke.

Or the double-team of Hartnell, only to escape once real poop was about to go down.

Cindy is the biggest tool in the league; guy complains about lack of headshot protection ever since he brought his injury onto himself (not paying attention to where he was skating) and immediately returns to elbow Foligno in the face (only to deny it like a pussaaay).

This hypocritcal, holier-than-thou persona is quite evident in the way he plays, and the way he talks about the games and what not (never has anything good to say about anyone, other than begrudgingly commending his team-mates once in awhile).

I sincerely hope after this the Flyers stop preventing themselves from laying the pain on him and rock him like he deserves; Milbury was (frank)ing spot on with his analysis of this little prima dona. If he thinks he can do this tough-guy goon act without some form of reciprication he is a total (frank)ing idiot.

These Sens fans are absurd.

Boyle got some rabbit-punches on Karlsson, absolutely. But what Carkner did was nothing close to an equal response.

If you really think he "fought" Boyle, even though Boyle was turned to the side and had his hands down, you have clearly never been in anything close to a fight. NOT only that, he CONTINUED to punch him when Boyle was on the ground. Talk about a "wussy".

And enough of this "wussy" talk. Boyle is not a tough guy, never has been. But regardless, he stood up and fought Neal, one of the toughest SOB's in the league. That's how the Sens should have responded. Boyle stood up and took his punishment, and fought Neal 1 v 1.

Carkner straight up jumped him, and there was nothing else to it.

Also, some of you need to review Phillips' hit on Callahan. It was the same exact his as Hagelin's on Alfie. One resulted in injury, one didn't. One resulted in a suspension, one didn't.

The NHL really should stop using injuries as a criteria for suspension. It isn't just, in the slightest.

How about if John Scott comes out, jumps Spezza, and punches his 7 times without Spezza even getting his gloves up. The next Sens player in gets kicked out of the game, Spezza is injured, and we lose John Scott. Sounds like a (frank)ing fair trade off.

This league has completely made itself a joke in the last couple of days. Weber slams a guys head into the boards, and gets a fine. Hagelin and Phillips throw the same hit, only one gets suspended, for three games. One player jumps another, and only gets 1 game.

All studies show that in terms of suspensions, 1 playoff game = 2 regular season games. So that means the NHL views Hagelin's hit as worse than what Keith did to Sedin. Really?

It really is sad how much of a joke this league has become. And it's even worse how some fans believe the things they do. You have Ranger fans believing Alfie milked it, Sens fans ignoring Phillips' hit, calling for Hagelin to be murdered, and saying what Carkner did is fine, you have Pens fans saying James Neal did nothing wrong.

Come the (frank) on people.

Good old time hockey if you ask me
- mapisles2025

I agree, this is very entertaining. However all the bad actors must be punished by Shanny and how Weber got a slap on the wrist is beyond me. All other suspensions were worthy but love that flyers beatdown on Pens. Sidney is so frustrated and Malkin the Russian no show as usual has been invisible. Playoff hockey is a total different game than the regular season and if you can't take the pressure just be prepared to lose.

Boyle is a big chicken out there and Carkner despite getting suspended gets kudos for straightening the puke out. Picking on Karlsson the 165 pound super star is like a 200 pound man beating his 10 year old. Way to go Carkner, Neill, Foligno.

Carkner straight up jumped him, and there was nothing else to it.
