I put him as the 3rd best dman.
- madmike71

Doesn't that right there sum up how badly the D needs a serious upgrade? When Niskanen is your 3rd best d-man something needs to change.

Are you really going to take that chance though?

I think defensive upgrades are needed, and you need to find a way to dump Martin's contract.

- LordStanley88

If the Pens can get rid of Martin this offseason there should be a parade. I thought he was a decent but expensive pickup but I never thought he would be this incompetent.

Plus I'm tired of Orpik always talking about what the team needs to do yet he doesn't back it up himself. He's been bad as well and his dumb penalty cost the Pens big time in Game 1. I like Orpik a lot but he shouldn't be without blame as well. The whole team has been an embarrassment in this series and considering what Neal and Asham did today it doesn't help things. Neal doesn't do that but it doesn't excuse him for his actions late in the game at all. As far as Asham, he played his last game with the Pens today.

Can the Flyers please take him back and return to us Talbot?

I am simply embarrassed to be a Pens fan right now. From their complete lack of discipline and structure from a hockey standpoint to their frustration and cheap shots galore. I honestly hope this ends in game 4. They deserve to lose.

It struck me watching this game, just how much the Pens have played right into the Flyers hands. It's like watching a mirror image of what the Pens used to do to the Flyers in years past, except with a complete lack of anything that resembles goaltending or defense thrown in for good measure. Laviolette could not have paid the Penguins enough to be playing exactly how they are.

Asham should be out until October, chin/throat/collarbone - I don't care.

Neal's hit was late and he left his feet. Regardless of if the player was injured or not, that was cheap. Neal isn't a cheap player normally, but he'll have to answer for it in game 4.

All the scrums and fights and BS in the 3rd was the refs doing a terrible job of keeping the game under control. It's a playoff game with bitter rivals that stuff happens and should happen, but the extent of which was a failure by the refs and a misguided attempt to salvage something from this travesty by the Pens.

Bylsma has had his backside handed to him by a superior coach in this series. Nothing else to say. The Pens are just a train wreck, but there have been so many times where a coach could have stemmed the tide or at least stopped the bleeding. Bylsma has done neither. He won't be fired, but this is probably his warning notice.

Bryz is awful, but Fleury is something that simply cannot be described by simple adjectives. I'm afraid where his head will be going forward from this. Brent Johnson is garbage in black pads instead of white, but Fleury should have been pulled sooner or not at all.

I'll reserve my "good luck moving forward" until I see the handshake, but I will say thank you to all of the Flyers fans who have posted in here during the series and made valid points. I don't post often, but it has been enjoyable reading the conversations, regardless of this ridiculous series.

Sorry for the book.

I'm positive Talbot has alot more to do with this beatdown then the points he's putting on the scoresheet.

I can't think of a single defenseman I would say has played anything close to "good". With that said they're not getting alot of help from the forwards or the goalie. The entire collective performance is pathetic. Now we're more than likely going to get swept and we'll have to endure those taunts for at least a year.
- canadianpenfan

Crosby and Malkin have been equally as Bad. I know it was 6-4 but what in the hell was Crosby doing on the giroux goal early in the 3rd. I'm going to look at his minus number now.

That we made a shrewd move by trading up for Fleury instead of sitting back and taking a guy like Horton? That we were lucky to be saved from Ovechkin? and that we got lucky in the 2005 lottery that gave 5 other teams the exact same chance as the Pens, and all 30 teams some chance after an unplayed season that noone knows what the standings would ended up looking like?

I'd rather have the cup in 2009 and lose this series in a sweep.....I know if the rolls were reversed, you'd agree......and don't say you wouldn't.

He's doing all the small things right. Including shooting pucks at McGuire. He is looking like the 104 point QMJHL star that he was in Jrs.

All im going to say is that we drafted our stars during the middle to late first round. We have missed the playoffs about 6 times in the last 30 years.

We are also not the poster child for why the draft in its current format works.

We also have never been bankrupt.

Where would the pens be with out 66 and 87?

I know the flyers would still be where they are now with out Clarkie and Bernie...

Sure im bitter, but your success during the early 90s and the last few years does not erase all the bad years your org has had...

Wow, a first round series victory. Tell ya what. Send me your email address and we can swap pictures. You can send me pictures of that first round series victory, and I'll send ya the pictures I took at Joe Louis Arena in 2009. There's this big shiny silver thing in a bunch of them I'm sure you'd be fascinated to see.

We've seen that he is a big time player in the playoffs before haven't we?

With all the great moves the Flyers have done this offseason with bringing in the youngsters via the trades his acquisition was just as big. No can deny the enormous value he brings to the Flyers both on and off the ice.
