Are goons like Highlanders, there can be only one?
- nhindian

You asking that of someone who has been a Flyers fan for his entire life? I've seen plenty of shifts with more than one goon, much less games.

Neal went beyond goon; he was an embarrassment today. He got lucky he wasn't pitched for the hit on Coots, and then he goes after Giroux. He wasn't even attempting to play the game, just hurt people. There are plenty of ways to exact a pound of flesh on the ice that I have no problem with but he was just running around trying to give people concussions. You honestly think no one on the Flyers would have dropped the gloves with him?

Forget how they played, the penguins embarrassed themselves, the organization, Mario, and the fans with how they acted. Great job guys...

as much as i'm a Flyers fan, i was shocked with how they acted. Game 4 will be interesting.

have a good night everyone.

Certainly didn't do themselves any favors.

It will be interesting to see if Shero shakes up the roster a bit this off season. Hopefully he isn't as afraid of change as Blysma is.

I don't know, I need some downtime to think about that.

This team looked unstoppable less than 2 months ago with this roster minus Crosby and Letang for the most part. I just have a hard time figuring they got this bad.

The Flyers are a matchup nightmare for this team but they shouldn't be allowing 8 franking goals a game.

Well, aftr reading a ton of comments it seems there are people who hate the Pens and find them hypocritical on their stance on violence in the sport. Point taken, thank you.

Others prefer to defend their actions today as a frustrated bunch doing stupid stuff, point taken there too.

Many are garden variety trolls with an axe to grind, I prefer to ignore them actually.

The truth is somewhere inbetween but it does not change the fact that this team is not playing weell, and frustrated or not, it needs to play better hockey defensively.
While the players have created most of their delemma, the coaches need to be held accountable for sloppy play, a poor choice of stles of play to match the Flyers and an inability to control the team.

Hats off to the Flyers and Paul Holmgren for putting together a very good team, with the posssible exception of goaltending. His pick ups and coaching staff have performed very well.

Lastly, remember the guys play the game on the ice and we are just fans. Emotions run high but try to stay in control. Hope for a better game Wednesday and 1000 posts tonight!

He doesn't seem to be. Hope that one-time buyout thing that has been talked about like the NBA has actually comes to reality this CBA. Or if someone just wants to take Martin off our hands that'd be fine. I love Staal, which is why I'd like to see him traded. He would bring a nice return, hopefully the physical stay at home defeneseman we sorely lack. We still haven't replaced Eaton, Scuderi or Gill. We need 6 defensemen we can trust. Having guys like Lovejoy and Engelland out there for 9 minutes a game just won't work. Letang and Orpik will break down.

If the Pens lose this series do you think Bylsma is back? The guy is obviously an excellent coach, but (potentially) 3 straight early playoff exits has to get the wheels turning on a coaching change.

I can't think of a single defenseman I would say has played anything close to "good". With that said they're not getting alot of help from the forwards or the goalie. The entire collective performance is pathetic. Now we're more than likely going to get swept and we'll have to endure those taunts for at least a year.

Maybe they've earned one more run... 2010 was a worn down team against a hot goalie, last season was a M*A*S*H* unit that over achieved, maybe they believed the hype and thought they could coast through. This year could work as a wakeup call and a motivator.

Absolutely. Last year I can't be mad at him or anyone for. No Malkin, No Sid, lost to Tampa in 7 because Roloson played like Patrick Roy circa 1993. This year however, Bylsma deserves some blame for. As do the players, they've made so many mistakes that surely aren't within Bylsma's system. Not to mention the team Shero has given Bylsma is sorely lacking in physical reliable defensemen.

I'm fine with Sid. He's scored the first goal in the first 2 games, been all over the ice and a factor. Malkin has been almost invisible, except the turnovers.

Well hopefully your team comes out with a better effort when their backs are against the wall. Losing sucks, but losing like that is a kick in the nuts.
- canadianpenfan

WTF is going on with Fleury? And Malkin has been a no show.

I dont see the Nucks coming out of my series with Danny not coming back. Our lines are just fukked without him.

I do have some concerns that the style we employ is prone to an incresed number of injuries. We have an excellent core but some size on the backline and playing a more defensive style when needed is a sensible approch to this armchair fan.

I tend to agree with this, with minor tweeks.

I really don't think we, as a group, are giving the Flyers enough credit. That is a really good hockey team and they know how to play us. Bylsma has no answers to their speed and/or pressure.

The whole team sucked this series, but watching 9 mil in Z and Martin while they have no ability to take the body is the most painful thing I see. Can't have your two highest paid dmen getting manhandled every game. I don't care if Bortuzzo or Strait or Despres is brought up for game 4, I just can't stand watching guys skate around Paul Martin.....or is that wade redden.....

Not happy with Bylsma's lack of any answers or adjustments. I wouldn't care if they tried a 1-4 coming into today. At least I know the coach is trying something/anything. Got to hand it to the flyers, they've thoroughly dominated this team. Looking for a serious shakeup in the offseason.

This series none have been good. BUt we know what Orpik and Letang are capable of. Martin and Michalek in 2 years have done nothing but disappoint, martin especially. Engelland and Niskanen aren't good either. I hope Despres and Bortuzzo can fill some of those holes, and a trade can be made to acquire a real physical shut down presence.

Are you really going to take that chance though?

I think defensive upgrades are needed, and you need to find a way to dump Martin's contract.
