There was a discussion the other day on what's honorable and unsportsmanlike. What the the Pens did today, was dishonorable. Starting with Asham. Nothing wrong with coming to the defense of a teammate. But not with a crosscheck to the neck/face. Schenn didn't do anything dirty to warrant that response from Asham. Also you don't take runs at people's heads, or blatant hits away from the puck, just because your getting you ass kicked. You compete. You challenge a player to a fight even. But not what the Pens did. It's classless and unwarranted.

The Flyers didn't do this when they were on the verge of going down 3-0 to Boston. They kept at their game and ultimately came back and won the series by playing their game. The Pens could have tried doing the same thing. Obviously they chose not to

Edit: And I'm obviously talking about 2010

if the shoe was on the other foot and they were up 3-0 on us and we were doing the same poop to them. don't you think paul holmgren, peter laviolette, mr snider and any flyers who were acting as scummily as the pens did today would have to face amazing sanctions?
- flyerscup2011

You're damn right they would be. I'm just saying there is a double standard and I doubt the Pens get more than a one game suspension for neal out of this.

Aaron Asham gets one shift a period, better go throw punches at someone laying face down on the ice.

I saw one attempt to injure, that was Ashams crosscheck to the jibs, even that happens quite often.
- Leafland

What game were you watching? Neal's elbow to Giroux's head was clearly an intent to injure as was his 5 year late, blind side leap into Couturier.

Want to send them a message? Win 4 straight and come back and win the series. Skating around trying to hurt people is classless, no room in the game for it, and it's clearly not helping the Penguins win any games

Worried about Giroux tho. He did not look good after that cheap shot hit he took in the 3rd, he looked dazed and until the end of the period sat on the bench looking woozy with his helmet off..

This right here is what they lost in Talbot. There's a guy who knows how to operate with a deficit, they'll rue the day they let him walk for the next four years.

Absolutely. Disgusting display by the Pens today. You simply can't let frustration affect you that badly.

Go Flyers. Pens were classless today. Win the next one and send them home for good.

Lol he didn't even hit Giroux, that little stumble was a nice added effect. The blindside/late hit on Cooter is a bit iffy, i think he definitely did it on purpose.

last comment by me on the subject. i feel that if the league office does not come down hard on the penguins, then there is a major problem.

I will agree with all of that except to say again like I did earlier that Schenn picked a bad spot and time to do what he did on Martin. Martin was engaged and no longer had the puck. Schenn left his feet. He deserved a bit of what he got.

of course, but you can't punish the people not involved.

Asham should be gone from the series, Neal at least a game (anything longer would be redundant since it's gonna be a sweep)

Giroux was laughing. He's fine. Couturier is fine. Timonen is fine.
