damn that's a good beer. I wish it came out my ass cause I'd have some right now.mmmmm

and I only mention the size part of their forwards cause RNH and Hall were out with injuries every other time they got hit. Poor fragile kids. Talented as hell though and love to have em on my team when they do actually play

I just wouldnt want Yakupov to go to Buffalo because then Garth would have some dumb title like "Yakupov sais he's excited for his first career NHL game" and then write a 5 sentence article on it.

I actually totally agree with you.. was just waiting to use that photo.

Hall wont play more than 60 games in any season..... and I don't understand why Oilers keep burning years of players ELC... they are all gonna be up within 1 or 2 years of eachother and will all of a sudden have 3-4 guys making 6-7 million per year.

It has more to do with bad luck.

RNH's injury was a freak accident that didn't involve any other player...

Hall had 2 freak accidents (face and leg being bent backward after a fight) plus one nagging injury that has been bothering him since the juniors... BTW, I'm amazed Hall can still play after taking that hit in juniors. That was insane.

So fragile? No... Unlucky? Yes.

Like numerous other teams in the NHL. No big deal.

I think every team who has won a cup in the past 10 years... has had at least 1 or 2 guys making way below value. Whether it be a rookie on a ELC... or someone who is at the tail end of a under-valued contract.

You can't have every guy making what they deserve... in a cap world... it will kill you. Unless you can find perfect depth guys to fill the roles perfectly and catch lightning in a bottle.

I just don't see the point of a under weight guy like RNH burning a year of his contract when oilers are still a good 3-4 years from being serious contenders. It would be much better to have them spread out a little bit more so when a couple years from now you could have 1-2 guys putting up 60-80 points making around 3 million instead of 7. Possibly making a serious run too.

The cap absolutely killed the hawks.... they were the deepest team in the NHL because guys like toews and kane were making peanuts... and to an extent Sharp.

It just feels like a waste to me... nothing wrong with RNH thickening up a little and playing one more year in junior... have a complete year of domination and come up the next year more mature and poised.

Guess this is the lets bait leaf fans type of the month.

We don't need prospects for our defense, we need a established top 2 defense man. The Oil has lots of great prospects coming up, but they are not ready.

Meyers isn't good enough, and the latest coming of Jesus according to leaf fans may fall flat on his face just like the previous 3 latest coming of Jesus did.

hmm... established top 2 defense man... hmm... from TO... hmm, who does that sound like... wonder if Hemmer will get in a huff though

Phaneuf and TO 1st for Edmonton 1st, Eager or Jones and Habby to reduce salary.

Don't see MP fitting, The Oilers get a hometown boy and a top defense man (come on you think Tambi can get a better defense man) and get rid of a problem, TO gets some cap relief for free agent time for whale hunting, a top prospect to build around, and a semi useful player. Phaneuf might actually remember how to smile once he is away from that pressure cooker.

Actually, I doubt we will trade him, I think Gags is more likely to go, as well as MP

You really think anybody could say anything to depress a leafs fan more than their actual team already does on the ice every year? Come on now. Where else do you have a franchise where management offers hilarious apologies cause we're so terrible.

Christ even the oilers have made it to a cup final during the leafs playloff drought.

yeah I'd definitely want to believe in bad luck too if I were an oilers fan. A lot easier than believing they are skinny and fragile......

#1 is absurd no way the habs would ever make that trade. Top pairing dman to move up two spots for a player who is a notch below most years 1st overall. I think the habs will be able to grab a decent player at #3

Being fragile is the least of Connolly's problems. I could care less if he's out of the line up to be honest cause I barely notice he's there when he does play anyways so whats the difference. Just another soft player in a long line of soft players on the leafs.

Teams that are built soft like Sabers and leafs are why we aren't in the playoffs.

1.7 point-per game average over the last two seasons in the OHL. No one his age came close to that over the last few seasons. Skating speed at 18 is already faster than 90% of the entire NHL.

Like I said, Oilers aren't going to gift this guy to anyone, nor should they.

Ill jave to agree with most comments.. ohl stars dont always pan out. i can think of 2 off the top of my head. Matt foy and of.course the great Corey Locke...so where are they now.... oh right undersized and cant cut the nhl level. yakopov is generously listed at what 5'3 give or take a few. montreal already has on of the smallest players in deharnais. as good as yakopov sounds. he doesnt last 5mins to a lucic hit we need to get bigger and stronger. subban will be good. not to many superstars dont have issues. crosby whines. Lindros refused to play in quebec. sakic was a one man show early on. even the great yzerman was told to stop showboating and play detroit hockey or else he was going to be shown the door. Pronger is reckless and has anger issue (in my opinion) even lindstrom took a while to adjust. With markov back and emelin gorges ad in tinordi and bealieu. maybe suter .. wink wink. subban will be abke to slid into a role built for him. this year he was forced to play outside his.role. tough to be a leader in your second year.

It's actually his biggest problem. Dude was awesome before he got injured over and over again. He has more talent than most people in the NHL. Just has no desire to play anymore cause he gets hurt too much.

err.. because phoenix won't do it.

Burke might offer that, he has new owners, a under achieving team that he put together, and unemployment on the horizon unless he does something real dramatic. he will get the top prospect, and make a big play for Parise, and everything will be all right in leaf land.

It's a real sad statement when you compare your team to the worst team since the lockout, and have had to draft 3 number ones in a row, and you still consider that team better than yours.

Im not trying to make fun of the oilers, And Toronto looks rough right now but we have a great prospect cupboard and some of them should be in the nhl next year. Im glad their getting playoff experience in the ahl this year and im also glad they wont have wilson next year so they actually get a chance.
