Well Bobby Clarke disagree's with you.
Quebec received in the trade the rights to eventual Hart Trophy winner Peter Forsberg, as well as Ron Hextall, Chris Simon, Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, Steve Duchesne, a 1st round selection (Jocelyn Thibault) in 1993, a 1st round selection (later traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, later traded to the Washington Capitals—Nolan Baumgartner) in 1994, and $15,000,000 cash. And Lindros was an unproven player at that point.
Now Yakupov would never get that much in a trade but just saying it has been done before. - longbottom
Is Nails dad his agent and Nail is refusing to go to Edmonton or something? I'm confuzzled. |

And he never won a cup. And on the flip side he dealt some of the building blocks/main pieces of a juggernaut championship team for years with what he gave up.
That sorta backfired on ya bud - hugefemale dog77
Not really am I meant was Lindros who at the 1991 NHL stood up and said he would never play for that team and he spent a year away from the NHL before getting traded for all those assets. Was Clarke crazy? Hell ya and Quebec moved to Colorado won the cup with some if not most of those prospects.
Yakupov isn't Lindros and Tambo would never get all those prospects. But A deal for anproven NHL rookie has been done before. |

LMAO no I just mentioned a trade involving several players and picks in responce that an NHL G.M. would never make a trade like what Richard is saying.
Yakupov is no Lindros and I am not comparing him, I just showed a trade for an unproven NHL rookie that is all. |

I'm bot butthurt at all, but the trade scenarios offered aren't accurate at all according to me. Yakupov could always make an Alexandre Daigle of himself. Great talent, and so on, but not a "lock". Yes, tremendous potential, but potential equal gamble. Subban/Weber/Suter/ aren't gambles, we know what they're able of in this league as of right now.
Also, I agreed because of the comparison Myers vs Weber. Doesn't stand at all.
More, Subban is the only "real" top 2 pairing D (we've got Markov, but well... Admit that we can't count on him :lol. Our D is killing us. So, Subban plus Grigorenko (big center with skills, what we've been dreaming for since quite years) doesn't stand at all.
Also, Yakupov isn't a big size offense : what we're looking for. As Edmonton should be looking for also. That's why I thought Edmonton should go after Rick Nash. A big size winger that can score goals, and also is a "veteran" that could teach/help young talent you've got...
Anyway, no butthurt, simply realistic I guess. - MightyPee
I think that you won't see another player like Alexandre Daigle or Patrick Stefan go #1 ever again as the NHL central scouting has come leap years from what it was back then and the Combine was developed to prevent that. Teams now know that the Number one draft pick is too important to that team to do that ever again. The interview process in the scouting combine is as important as the athletic part. When it came down to Taylor or Tyler Hall got a leg up there also because he is a 100% better interview. |

Definitely agree... It'll be a rarity for that to happen again. Of course it'll always be a possibility, but not a very likely one these days. |

Yes I do agree But It has been done before and Done before Clarke. Florida also traded away from their number one for alot less and he lost his job also. IMO any G.M. trading a number #1 overall draft pick should lose his job. Did you hear Lowe's interview with Jason Gregor friday he said he cannot see a team stepping up to trade what it would take for the Oiler's to trade the pick.
So yes you are right I was agreeing with the Leafs guy but was showing it has been done before and will again in the future. Depends how desperate a G.M. will get.
Actually when you think about the Lindros trade Philli wasn't the only team to poney up a package for Lindros. NY also made the trade for LIndros after Philli did Quebec took NY's offer but the NHL stepped in and ruled Philli did the trade before NY and that was the one they are accepting. I believe it was
Neil Smith who was the NY G.M. and he lost his job in 2000 when Sather took over. Funny two NHL G.M.ers made that trade and still lasted at least 9 years after. |

Only 10% of Albertans are of Ukranian descent. Very few are from the Ukraine at some point in their life. It's their ancestors that came from the Ukraine when the federal government was looking to populate Alberta territory with experienced farmers.

Was talking to one of my Ranger fan friends about the first overall..would you trade the pick for something along the lines of Staal, Dubinsky and their first? Or is their pick gonna be too late for your (general) liking? |
