Ryan Johansen + 2nd overall for Gagner + 1st overall?

That's actually a pretty solid deal. If only we had a GM with the required size of balls to pull it off. |

Depends how high our scouts are on Murray too I guess. Deal sounds good though.
Some scouts have said Murray will top out at a low end #2 or really good #3 D man. If that's all the potential Stu sees in him then we should pass. Not that we don't want that type of D man but it's critical to parlay this pick into a #1 D man if we don't take Yakupov. |

Since the jackets already got a possible number 1 center, and a pretty solid 2nd in umberger, do they take murray? |

Ill jave to agree with most comments.. ohl stars dont always pan out. i can think of 2 off the top of my head. Matt foy and of.course the great Corey Locke...so where are they now.... oh right undersized and cant cut the nhl level. yakopov is generously listed at what 5'3 give or take a few. montreal already has on of the smallest players in deharnais. as good as yakopov sounds. he doesnt last 5mins to a lucic hit we need to get bigger and stronger. subban will be good. not to many superstars dont have issues. crosby whines. Lindros refused to play in quebec. sakic was a one man show early on. even the great yzerman was told to stop showboating and play detroit hockey or else he was going to be shown the door. Pronger is reckless and has anger issue (in my opinion) even lindstrom took a while to adjust. With markov back and emelin gorges ad in tinordi and bealieu. maybe suter .. wink wink. subban will be abke to slid into a role built for him. this year he was forced to play outside his.role. tough to be a leader in your second year. - bast_003

For sure. I wasnt advocating an offensive dman. Just that i think subban is a notch above schenn.
Im hoping for a true two way guy, not an offensive pp qb.
I want carlson, not green - hugefemale dog77
To Washington- 1st overall, 3rd rounder from LA
To Edmonton- John Carlson, 11th overall, 16th overall
We get a defenceman and the opportunity for Stu to do some work and find us a couple of gems in the middle of the 1st. In Stu we trust. |

That would set back the rebuild. Gagner has out produced Johansen at every level and has developed into a dependable player. |

Johansen wasn't used correctly thus far. He's big, and skilled... He'd be the perfect 2nd line center... Plus we could draft Murray |

Ryan Johansen + 2nd overall for Gagner + 1st overall?

Maybe player for player this makes sense, but for me Columbus needs to say no. Why? The foundation for championship teams is pretty much consistently strong, 2 way centers down the middle. By making this deal, the Jackets don’t help themselves at all. They add another legit scoring winger but now leave themselves small and lesser skilled (projected) down the middle with Brassard and Gagner, neither of the top line ilk.
If I were Columbus, I’d hold Johansen and draft Grigorenko, establishing their 1 and 2 spots down the road with young, strong, big bodies 2 way centers and build around that foundation. Right now the issue in EDM, in my eyes, is that they lack the legit center depth required to be a contender, agree or disagree, but thats my assessment both pro and prospects. To me, Columbus won’t take that problem and make it their own.

Id take Nuge over Johansen, Grigorenko and Gagner any day of the week. A 2nd line center is a lot easier to find than a 1st, and by drafting Yakupov and assuming he lives up to potential, his value will only INCREASE. Columbus can keep their big low scoring centers. Edmonton has no reason to do that deal, nor any reason to make an ill advised trade. |

Other problems...
- Inexperienced/injured d-men
- Tambs and Lowe are apparently afraid of Khabibulin, and they continue to give him 40+ games per season. Perhaps he's friends with the mob? |

While i dont agree with some of your reasoning, i do agree they say no to the deal.
Keep your projected first line center, dont turn that position into a problem unneccasarily as none of gags, rj or brassard will ever be that guy.
strengthen another area of need. Forsberg, murray etc. |

What makes it so tempting is we solve a bunch of problems all at once.
We fill our 2nd line center weakness with a blue chipper. Nuge 1 and johansen 2? Hells yes.
Ryjo's a big fuker too!! giving us much needed size in our top 6.
And
Ryan murray could be the 2 way dman we covet so much.
Not to mention, hemmer prob gonna play that 2nd line rw over yakupov next year anyway. Even great rooks live around 50+ points. A healthy hemmer CAN bring more than that |

For all you Forsberg nut huggers
2011
Victor rask
Rasmus Bengtsson
William Karlsson
2010
Patrik Nemeth (Only call up then Elitserien)
2009
OEL
Karl Klingberg (On loan for 8 games destroyed the league)
Mattias Ekholm

Mattias Tedenby (On loan for 13 games destroyed league)
2007
Mikael Backlund
2006
Dennis Persson
Patrick Berglund
Richard Axelsson
2004
Johannes Solmonsson
Top Allsvenskan draft picks since the lockout. Only 1 top-10 OEL. Everyone of these guys except Backlund and Berglund were far and away superior to Forsberg in their draft year scoring-wise. Only two regular NHLers. Tier-2 hockey sucks. |
