I guess I say oh well to Kunitz. Crosby is the best in the game, put him down low and utilize his multitude of assets that he has to offer while keeping Geno in a dangerous spot on the half wall. I feel very strongly about Sid playing down low by the goal line. To borrow something I heard from Madden today (yeah yeah I know), you have to make it work with 87 and 71 on the same PP. The unit that starts the PP is never going to get off in time to let the second unit get ample time, it just doesn't happen often at any level unless you get a whistle. After a while either 87 or 71 is going to get frustrated by not being out there, and rightly so.

The way to make it work is have 87 down low, its the only place where him and Geno won't be running into eachother all the time.

It makes complete sense that they should be able to make it work, but as you know, this problem has been going on for a few years now. It's just not new. There was a caller who was a Detroit fan today on the radio said he couldn't believe this was such a controversy because Datsyuk and Zetterberg are often separated on the PP. I really think Bylsma should try two units and start the fresher unit. No favorites. I think Staal can play the slot because his much improved shot and Cooke can do the dirty work. I think an issue that hasn't been discussed is Malkin is taking way too long shifts anyway. I hate when they're out on the pp for 1:50. They're dog tired and it screws with the next several shifts.

The extended shifts have really been occurring since Sid got back and the PP went to poo. It still happened before but with the PP clicking at 20% the issue gets masked.

they need to do this, either this or have crosby down low with malkin along the boards. either way. no one should be out there for 1:50.

im with you there man. this whole do whatever the hell you feel like thing will never work, let alone in the playoffs. i just dont see having crosby completely off of it as the answer. it just sucks because this is the junk that you should have used the last week of the season to figure out. now there isnt time to be mixing and matching.

When the goal replay includes the opening faceoff, you know it was scored quick.

correct in that the past few years it hasn't worked. But has Sid ever been predominately down low, not to this point.

And how about that start.

I like the Crosby/Couterier matchup. Crosby is better at losing a shadow than Malkin is.

yeah this energy is insane. id be absolutely ecstatic if i didnt see the same thing lead to a blown 3 goal lead 2 days ago. i wonder if they can keep this up for a full 60 though. right now theyre going 90 mph. even if they can maintain at least like a 75 range. its beter than flatlining
