Posted this on Twitter earlier, will repeat it here now and in tomorrow morning's blog: It has become obvious that the most exploitable weakness on Pittsburgh is it's defense. This group is not nearly as hard to play against as the ones with Scuderi and Gill plus Gonchar (with his PP/point shot/outlet passing prowess) were. They don't block nearly as many shots or box out nearly as well.
Flyers have exploited it time and time again both in regular season series and in Games 1 and 2 of playoffs. Letang loves to hit but gets out of position a lot and Orpik is only one who has boxing out effectively.
My feeling on Fleury remains the same. He's a good goalie but not a great one. Bernie Parent used to preach the mantra to a young Pelle Lindbergh that the difference between a good goalie and a great one is that a great goalie is harder to beat for a second goal than a first. With Fleury, once you get to him, he can start to press and commit too early. - bmeltzer
Would still like to see them dump some pucks in and lay some hits on their d. Make them really not want to handle the puck

i was thinking about this earlier. will the league apologize to everyone and especially pittsburgh fans if the flyers eliminate the penguins? - hammarby31
I wish I dvrd that NHL tonight segment where the three panelists all said the Flyers had no chance and Maurice specifically said the Pens in 5 that the Flyers were in over their head. That Mclennon guy what the hay already oh well looks like we might get the last laugh

their forwards don't help out much. a lot of standing and watching.
never been a big fan of MAF. he's got great pads and most big saves he makes are on the ice. he gets beat up top a lot (which is true of a lot of goalies), although jagr's game winner was right on the ice.

Though I visit this site multiple time a day, I never post. I'm awed and humbled by Bill's knowledge and manner of expressing that knowledge and very thankful to him for his blogs. I also enjoy most of the dialogue and displays of knowledge between the regular posters even if I sometimes think some of you are married to each other.
That said, I'm wondering if anyone has a connection to the dude that runs the scoreboard at the Wells Fargo. See, I'm thinking if we take up a 'collection' and make 'donation' we could get him to set up the score as 2-0 PIT to start the first period. Maybe then the guys will come out flying for a change.

I think he's overrated personally and always have. I think the 09 pens could have won with Leighton in net. Just saying...

Staal's had a great view on a couple of goals already this series - Voracek's OT winner in game 1 and Giroux's first tonight.
